The wife and I have decided to go to the Bahamas for Memorial Day week and are considering options. A lot of cool spots are booked so I was thinking we might just do Atlantis. Seems easy enough and I can play a few rounds of golf. However, I kind of get a cruise like feeling from some of the research. I would appreciate any feedback.

A little of both. A lot of the cruise ship people go there when their ship is in port in Nassau.

It's ridiculously overpriced for what it is, IMO.

I looked into it. Pricy as all hell and then I hear they throw a bunch of taxes and or service charges on everything as well

The wife and I had a good time at Atlantis when we went about 5 years ago. You can stay at the Comfort Inn across the street and have full access to the Atlantis property. Since you're not in the room much at all it was fine for what it was. I think we were only there for 3 days, in another area the first part of the trip for a wedding. There is a new resort that just opened that is supposed to be real nice but I can't recall the name offhand.

There’s an all inclusive literally right next door, the name isn’t coming to me but it’s less than a 5 min walk to Atlantis if you wanted to golf

They nickel & dime you to death. We only stayed there for one night as part of our honeymoon. It's been years, but one of the restaurants there was really good, and was worth the price. Everything else was a rip off. The casino didn't even offer free drinks. Maybe that's customary. I'm not a huge gambler, but I found it odd.

And several within a 5 minute drive. We visited Atlantis when we did Sandals on Nassau. I wouldn't pay money to stay there.

If you have the extra money stay at the One&Only. Much better and really nice. Especially if it is just you and the wife and no kids. Plus you can take a free valet to Atlantis which is about 5 minutes away and have free access to anything there. Me and the wife went about 5 years ago and caught a good deal (about $450 a night). Regardless of where you go, make a stop sooner then later at a store where you can buy some alcohol. A beer can cost you around $8-$10 and a vodka tonic or a simple glass of wine anywhere from $12-$15. Keep a stash in your room.

This is often what I hear as a negative about that place.

We went few years ago, I had a work trip there, and it was paid for so that was nice. When the cruise ships get there it gets crowded. It was ok, but I'm not sure I'd go back unless taking the kid with us.

We did go to Sandy Toes on an excursion, if you are looking for something to do it was a great place. LINK

I'd also suggest getting some John Watlings Rum, very tasty

We have been going to the Atlantis on our annual guys' trip for several years now. It is an easy flight for us since we are scattered on the east coast.

While the drink service in the casino can be slow at times, especially when it is crowded, I certainly have had my share of free drinks there. I'll hand the waitress a red chip and order two at a time.

I wouldn't consider it "trashy" but we hang out at the Cove pool away from all of the cruise ship visitors.

I am not a high roller but I am always offered four "free" nights. After you factor in all of the taxes and resort fees it still costs close to $200/night a room for two people.

Nobu is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere and is the highlight of my trip, dining wise. The blsck cod is amazing.

I'll be there this time in two weeks.
