We’re headed to Asheville for 2 days and Charleston for 2 days at the end of September. We don’t have any firm plans as of yet but so far we’re planning to do the Biltmore, stay at the Vendue, and eat at the Fig one night and at the Husk another night. Any suggestions on where to stay in Asheville and other things to do/places to eat. We’ll be traveling as a group of 4 with no kids. Appreciate any suggestions-thx

Asheville is one of the most common topics on here.

Search and ye shall see.

As is Charleston one of the most discusssd destinations on the board.

Nonetheless, I will mention one place near A’ville; Sierra Nevada Brewing. We were there last night; we ate at the restaurant on site and everyone liked it. Highly recommend the pretzel with cheese dip.

I stayed at the Vendue inn about 10 years ago, you should not be disappointed if the same standards are held.

a second vote for sierra nevada. of course the beer is good but the tapas menu and great food pushed it to the top of the "to do " list for me

Good luck getting into FIG - I recommend very late weekday reservations to get a spot at there and Husk.

Do they take reservations? We’re not going until the last week in September.

Yes, I believe they offer reservations 30 days out

We went the week of Memorial Day and ate at SNOB and the ordinary. The ordinary was fantastic

If you’re staying at the Vendue in Charleston then you’re probably more interested in something like the Aloft in Asheville, but if you would be interested in a very affordable place in a great location then I can recommend Downtown Inn and Suites. Someone else recommended it in an Asheville thread on this board, and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The room and accommodations were dated and not that great, but it was like $70 a night and a perfect location to walk around downtown and go brewery hopping.

Curate is a tapas place in Asheville that is highly recommended, that I wish we would’ve visited. If you’re looking for Carolina barbecue then I thought Buxton Hall BBQ downtown was fantastic.

Curate is awesome. Small plates, hams and great red wine for days.

Downtown Inn is perfect for hitting up breweries around town. It has the best location in town. With that said it is a motel albeit very clean. It is so popular that guests are required to show proof that they are not local.

Curate looks right up our ally, thanks for the suggestion, we’re putting it on the list.

Good call on staying at The Vendue. I stayed their this last December and found the staff extremely accomodating and the rooms were very unique yet very comfortable.

Small characteristics of the hotel made it for us. We had a two way fireplace in our room that faced both the bathroom and bedroom (if you can request this room the do so). Each room has complimentary sherry and cookies at all times. In addition, the hotel offers free wine, apps, and cheese from 4-6 each afternoon and warm cookies and milk from 9-11. Finally, the hotel is filled with unique artwork and their is an in house painter that is painting all day.

The unique perks, prime location, and affordable pricing made for a very enjoyable experience and I would not hesitate to book with them again.
