Just checked into the Wild Dunes Resort about 20 mins outside Charleston. Good impressions so far. Pretty area. Nice houses, beach, palm trees, boats, etc. Ate at Islander 71. Very good.

When we were there a few years ago, the wife commented that it was like a little New Orleans but without the smell of piss and beer.

I’ve heard that same New Orleans comparison for at least 10 cities

How’s the weather? My buddy is there and said it’s major swamp arse and feels like 107 outside

Pretty much how we explained it to the kids. It’s cleaner all around though. Also much smaller which I’m sure helps.

Weather is hot, no doubt. Not Baton Rouge hot at the moment, but plenty hot. You will not confuse it with San Diego. Breeze helps. 5:00 on was perfect for the beach and pool.

Active but not crowed this time of year which I enjoy.

Yeah man. First time here and really like it. Laid back and very southern. Easy to get around and a very different vibe than Charleston but close enough.

Have a good time. It's my favorite US city east of the Mississippi.

It would be awesome if you posted a trip report, I think Charleston is one of the most asked about cities on this board but I don’t know how often people actually come back and post a trip report with pics

The food scene in that town is supposed to be off the charts incredible

Charleston is both great and overrated at the same time.

I’ve been here since March and have loved summer. And I’m a northerner. At Kiawah Island beach right now.

Also Wild Dunes is way out there, but IOP is awesome.

Wild Dunes is in Isle of Palms. My aunt and uncle live there on the golf course. It’s a beautiful area - enjoy your time there!

Kinda what I thought I was doing! Glad to do it. I wish TD made it easier to post pics. Royal PITA unless there’s an easier way I’m not familiar with.

Let me assimilate pics from everyone and I’ll get it done.

Halls Chophouse on Kings St.

Best steak I've ever had.

Great place to visit but not to live in. Too many carpetbagger retirees from the Northeast are moving there and driving the property values up.

This is the worst part about an otherwise great site. That and no multi-quote feature.

We really enjoyed the trip and the wife and I may go back at some point. Not much around for the kids to do outside of the beach. Ate at Toast! All Day for brunch then on the water at Islander 71. Both were fantastic

They’re not down with just walking around and eating, so I’m glad it was a short trip. Ended up about perfect.

Here are some pics:
