I considered your route and went the “safer” route.

Travel company we set up our trip with arranged our shuttle transportation for the entire trip for us. For one part of our trip (Monteverde to La Fortuna/Arenal area) we took a boat taxi across Lake Arenal.


Last thing I wanted to deal with on my honeymoon was us fighting in a rental car as we tried to navigate Costa Rican roads


Some of those bridges were crazy..one lane only. So you had to take turns going across the bridge.

Part of the adventure.

Plus, we know some folks who part-time in CR, they told us about some off-the-beaten-path places and food that we wouldn't have seen otherwise.

I won't drive a rental car in Japan (left-handed drive AND Kanji street signs) but I'll drive in Europe, the Caribbean, & Latin America.

PS: I'm an excellent driver.

Anyone else have opinions on the AIs on the beach? Planning to fly into Liberia.
