I mentioned that we have time share in Vidanta Resorts to a friend who works in national intelligence circles. He asked, "When are you going?" I said "it was just a thought, why?"

He said, "I just wanted to make sure I could put together an extraction team to get you outta' there when it goes south on you."

He said that lack of tourists has put a lot of people in Mexico into desperate situations and it's just not safe, not even in the resorts, right now.

He said that crime and attacks on tourists is rampant right now and that Covid was really bad.

I looked up the state department warnings and it seems really bad. LINK

Yeah. I think we'll pass on Mexico this year.

I wonder how the State Dept would rate some of our own US cities for travel if they had to.

I have to think there are US cities people travel to that are equally as dangerous, or even more dangerous, than tourists areas in the Yucatan.

Well we just went to Cancun a couple of weeks ago and the dude is lying. The airport was packed as much as I’ve ever seen it. We tried booking at multiple properties but they only had top of the line rooms available before we got one at one of the excellence resorts.

Been 3x during COVID, it's probably the safest it's ever been. 85% of the world has the same meaningless "level." I'm not sure if Mexico has ever been below that level, ever.

You do realize how large Mexico is and how many Americans talk about it like it’s some tiny remote island.

Headed to Cabo for 3 weeks on June 9th

Yeah so many Americans in Mexico at the moment, many from still locked down/restricted states so they can have some freedom .

This is the biggest load of shite you’ll read on here today, that’s for sure. I’ve been 3 times to 3 different areas since last September - Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, and Cabo. All are safer than going to Florida.

Mexico is a massive country and the state department does not hone in on specific areas when the label a country a certain designation (or level).

Be better man. Come on.

You can stay at a nice all inclusive resort in Cabo for almost the same price as staying at crowded arse Orange Beach or Destin. I’m picking Cabo every time.

There's a bunch of media stories from the last 48 hours saying Quintana Roo may impose restrictions again.

In a typical year we go to Mexico multiple times. We have never had an issue. The only reason I don't go in the summer is because it's hot as frick. We like to go around Fat Tuesday because it's their Carnival and it's a blast.

Nope, I tend to stay away from places where there is a good chance of being kidnapped, murdered, or catching COVID.

Heart of Dixie. I have no want to visit a country where I am told it's perfectly safe as long as you stay on the resort grounds. That may be perfectly fine for a lot of people, but not for me. I'd rather visit several Carribean Islands. Hell, I have no desire to go to Alabama and FL panhandle beaches. Way too many people.
