Any recommendations like best distillery tours or restaurants or other activities in that area?
If you drove up there from near southeast LA or along that path, any recs on things to do or see on the road?
Thanks.

I've done the Bourbon trail from Lexington. My favorite distillery was probably Woodford Reserve, it was a beautiful setting and very peaceful. Buffalo trace was larger and had a free tasting room with a good selection of booze. Btw, I love the smell of the bourbon distilleries.

Each distillery has their own "niche". You can dip your own bottle at Maker's, Woodford and Four Roses have great architecture, etc. The Bourbon Trail website provides a good amount of info and gives details on the Bourbon Passport too.
Definitely check out historic Bardstown (Heaven Hill is based there) while you're there.

If you do the BT, I suggest checking out the Abbey of Gethsemani.

hired a limo driver out of Bardstown to drive us around. Picked us up in lousiville, then took us to lexington and down to bardstown and back. Hit Buffalo Trace (not part of the official BT, but one of the most awesome tours we did) Maker's Mark (extremely commercialized) and hit up the Willett Distillery. Willet was awesome, granted our tour guide kinda realized they were our last stop and figured we'd heard the history of bourbon a few times that day. Favorite non sports trip i've taken.
