Right. Maybe even especially those actions taken under a guise of being beneficial to humanity.

Politicians need fears to control the population. Lawyers need dangers to litigate, and make money. The media need scare stories to capture an audience. Together, these three estates are so compelling that they can go about their business even if the scare is totally groundless. If it has no basis in fact at all. "
Life changing when I read it during my college years. Biggest take away for me was to always consider the source and their motivations.

The Morrill Tariff was passed in the House in May 1860.
In 1860, about 95% of US government revenue was raised by a tariff on imported goods. Over 85% of US tariff revenue came from the South before the Morrill Tariff. In turn, 80% of these tax revenues were used in the North.

I didn't realize that. Hadn't been to Gueydan in a while but their selection of duck hunting gear blew me away.

Wanting to go put my eyes on some duck/deer hunting clothing before purchasing. Thinking along the lines of places like G&H in Gueydan, Simmons in Bastrop or Spotted Dog in Columbia. What are some others you all know of?

I have one of these at the house.
Mostly use it for smoked Old Fashioneds but surely there are other cocktails that would be worth trying smoked.
Recreation.gov NP booking
Posted by DeepwaterGoMer on 1/11/23 at 9:05 pm
Was attempting to book a tent campsite for July in RMNP Aspenglen Campground. Have done this a few times and understand how competitive it is to get a site. I hit book now at 09:00:00 and still didn't get the reservation. Is it possible someone at the site or park had it already booked prior to becoming available to general public at the release time?

re: How nice of a place is Jennings, Louisiana to live in?
Posted by DeepwaterGoMer on 11/23/22 at 8:26 am to Toucan Sam
JHS grad here. It's a decent small town but why Jennings specifically? There are areas nearby with much better schools, e.g., Hathaway, Iota.
ETA Their school buildings are great. High school is only about 20 years old and they just built a new k-8th. It's the demographics of Jennings that's the problem.

Link to study supporting this wild theory?
Pure supposition from a keen observer of the human condition. There surely is some enhanced propensity to suggestion that makes people more willing to get the covid vaccine. Right along with that would be doing or believing other things that go against nature, e.g., self-sterilization, trust in government, ceding of natural rights, approval of gay agenda, identity guilt, etc.
