I’m in Paris now. Someone may have already mentioned it, but the preparation for the Olympics is causing road closures everywhere. Traffic is even worse than usual. I’d use metro and walking as often as possible. Dress for the heat, too

We were there at the end of May. There are bleachers, temporary fencing, and added security around the major landmarks for the Olympics. It kind of took away from the experience. We took the metro and walked mostly. The metro was easy. Our favorite meal was at Les Antiquaires. To me, Paris was kind of overrated. Maybe we didn't do it right.

My wife and I ate at a restaurant named Verjus several years ago. The food was amazing. It closed for a while during Covid but is open again and still gets very good reviews.

My wife and I just got back on June 8th. We were in Paris 5 days and did a Normandy/Brittany tour for 5 days. The highlights in Paris:
French Open, eating at the Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower, Paris by Mouth wine and cheese tour, private Louvre tour, montemarte, De Orsay, we walked all over town. Used Uber but G7 taxis are better. The metro is good but the hardest part is getting a ticket. Traffic is terrible.
Normandy/ Brittany tour- D day sites and US cemetery are amazing. Hiked along the Emerald coast. Mont St. Michel and St Malo
Hope you have a great trip!

I went with my wife for our 10-year anniversary. We also went to London and Rome.
It is supposed to have great food and be romantic. The romantic vibes weren't there, and the food was just ok. It just felt like a grungy, big city.
As I stated, the beautiful landmarks were covered up with temp fencing and bleachers. We liked London and Rome better than Paris. Rome was more romantic and has better food, IMO.

One of the coolest places I can remember going to. Here's your romantic story of the day.
I had a social studies teacher that chapperoned a 15 days trip to England and France the summer after my 8th grade year. I think there were maybe 15 of us that went.
We went there one of the days and one of the girls in the group twister her ankle walking down one of the spiral staircases. A dr had to come treat her and of course our teacher was very involved with that. I was probably too oblivious at the time, but apparently the dr and our teacher hit it off. They ended up getting married a few years later.

I see. I'm sure some of the Olympics preparations didn't help.
Also, while I love Paris, I will say that in my opinion, the food scene in many ways isn't on the top of my list.

I am surprised that some of you were disappointed in the restaurant scene in Paris because I consider Paris the greatest restaurant city in the world.
We just celebrated a major anniversary in Paris and one of the reasons we went there was to revisit some of our favorite restaurants.

Oh, Paris has incredible restaurants. I just feel like the city as a whole doesn't do innovative mid-tier restaurants as well as other cities like NYC.

I can agree with that. I put New York as the second best restaurant city I have been to.
In Paris, the innovative stuff is at the high end Michelin starred places. We had our anniversary dinner at Guy Savoy.
But I love those old style, Parisian gourmet bistros.
