Nope. you're the first one. let us know how it is....

but seriously yes many people on here have been with multiple trip recaps stickied and a decent thread a page or two back that are all good.

Keep us posted.

Hint: Read through the very first topic on the homepage of this board. Scroll down to Mexico and you will see several reviews for Isla posted by your fellow TD brethren

I'm pretty sure it's the official caribbean destination of the Travel Board.

Got back from Holbox today, will post a review and pics in the next day or so.

Like you said, it was like Isla 20 years ago.

Will be going in March. I canceled our four nights at Ziva Cancun just to check this place out due to the circle jerk here. Hopefully IM lives up to the travel board hype bc Hyatt Ziva is one of our favorite resort destinations.

If you’re looking for some Hyatt all-inclusive type of vacation you’ll be disappointed. If you want cheap, authentic Mexican you’ll be pleased.

I’m not going to give you an OT answer. If you are on facebook search the islaholics group. I’m also on friends of isla mujeres group. I used those to plan our trip and our food. I recommend for airport transfers carm tranfers. They will book your ferry tickets too. Rent a golf cart. We stayed mid island and liked it, but I was with my dad. For a trip with my SO I’d stay in north beach. Don’t do all inclusive unless it’s practically free, which I have seen promotions offering AI for a few bucks a day. Worth it for drinks and poolside eats. So many great restaurants. Favorites were Limon, North garden!!, Olivia, megagua for breakfast. I missed trying boxcay. They were closed for the week. We ate so many great meals so that is a very short list. I dove with pocna. They were fine. One of my favorite drives on the cart was to a little bar at the end of sac bajo road. Maybe it was called el capitans. We’d buy a couple drinks then jump off the nearby dock and snorkel around. Friend Tony Garcia on facebook. He does great private excursions. Weather permitting. Have fun! You’ll be hooked.

Make sure you either rent a golf cart or take a taxi to the south end of the Island and have some frozen mojitos at The Joint. Have a margarita, if you dare, at the Soggy Peso. They have theme nights and, the evening I went, it was fajitas...absolutely delicious! Mango Cafe, about mid-Island, is a great spot for breakfast. I had the breakfast quesadillas which were very good! So many great restaurants on Isla...there were only two that I probably wouldn’t visit again, Skull’s Landing and Jax Bar and Grill. I found a great little hole in the wall place called the Tiny Gecko Bar next to the Malecon...cheap drinks and the view is great!

While you're at the southern end of the island spend a couple of pesos and walk the art and the cliffside and seaside trails at Punta Sur. Dramatic views and some of the roughest water you'll see.

Sadly, Soggy Peso no longer does ribs on the barbeque on Sunday. They still have hamburger Thursday and the other items mentioned. And yes, have a margarita there if you dare.

EAT AT BASTOS. Closed on Thursday. Get the arrachera. Best on the island and possibly the best in Mexico. It's amazing and...it's cheap.

Unfortunately, I didn’t do the art walk nor Basto’s. There were so many restaurants that I wanted to go to but ran out of time. I’m looking forward to visiting them on my next vacay to Isla.

I have been there. It has been years, but during a trip to Cancun we took the ferry there for a day trip.
