Acadia National Park -- where to stay, etc.

Thinking of flying to Boston in early June to watch Alex Bregman play in Fenway, and then driving to Acadia for some R&R, to include hiking and staring at the ocean. Anybody been there?
I heard Southwest Harbor is more serene than Bar Harbor. All I want is a seaside cottage or inn. Recs invited.
ETA: I booked a room at the Lindenwood Inn in Southwest Harbor for 3 nights. Looks like a really well-reviewed B&B run by two gay guys. Used Hilton points to book the Hilton Back Bay in Boston, which is only a few blocks to Fenway. Would it be trashy to buy and wear a Bregman jersey with my LSU hat?

Harbor Cottage Inn
We stayed at this B&B on our visit. Great place. Bar Harbor is very crowded. Southwest harbor was much more laid back.

Anyone been there in late Sept? Thinking about taking the family for fall break this year. I'm assuming the weather is amazing that time of year.

in our experience it was. was about a 10-15 minute drive to the park or Bar Harbor when you wanted it. and the drive was nice. closer to the light house and some beach type hikes, as well, near "the first sunrise in America". had several quaint little seaside places, if I remember right. I'd definitely recommend it.

This guy has about 8 really cool places to stay on his property, quiet, very serene and a Zen type place un in the woods just off the main highway. Within walking distance to Southwest Harbor restaurants. He has all sizes of homes to rent. You go get the lobsters from the dock and he will set you up with everything you need to have a lobster boil.

Couple of tips- in early June the kids are still in school up there, so it won’t be terribly crowded.
Get a lobster roll at Red’s Eats in Wiscasset. It’s on the way from Boston.
We stayed at a Airbnb in Bar Harbor. I This was almost ten years ago. Bar Harbor was the best option unless you are renting a Gilded Age mansion. It’s the only real town on the island.

There’s a spot called Under the canvas which is like glamping and might be worth looking into for something different

We went late July. The weather should be fine late September. Vermont is only a 5 hour drive from the park. Fall is amazing in towns like Woodstock.

That area is so beautiful I’d stay just about anywhere.
