My mom decided to take our baby to Florida from Wednesday- Sunday in a few weeks. The wife and I are looking for a quick trip to relax maybe explore a new city. I dnk pretty open time anything. Not into partying. Don’t drink. Can be within driving distance to LA but don’t mind flying. Never been to NYC but I dnk if three days is enough or worth it. Maybe North Carolina? Help me out board. Thanks!
Oh yeah we don’t hike or anything like that

What cities have you been to?
Do you like museums?
History?
Pro sports?
Some ideas:
Washington DC
San Diego
San Antonio/Texas hill country
Dallas/Fort Worth
Boston
Portland, Maine
Rapid City, SD & general area
Vancouver BC if travel to Canada is allowed.
It’s hard to make meaningful suggestions not knowing what you like to do and see.

Colorado Springs - fly in, rent a car, drive West toward Durango. The weather is perfect this time of year.

Right now everything in Washington DC is closed to the public until further notice. White House, Capitol, Smithstonian etc.

Fly out to Vegas. You will get great rates

Yes, it is super cheap. Bellagio was cheaper than TI for some reason

Something that would be perfect. Like a lazy beach town. Like Portland Maine. Somewhere on the water low key would be nice. Nice weather

San Fran? There is a lot to do in SF, we went there for our 25th Anniversary and stayed a week. There is good public transportation in the city but you can rent a car and go south to Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach; or north to Muir Woods, drive along the coast to Bodega Bay or more inland to the wine country.
Seattle? Never been except to drive by it on I 5. I understand there is a lot to do there but given the protest/riots I would not go now. Just me.
Portland, Maine is not very big. It is on the water but I would not call it a beach town, more of a harbor town. IDK, maybe it has a beach - was only there 1 night a few years ago. You can get a room (hotel, Air BnB, VRBO) near the water where there are a lot of restaurants. You will need a car to see places out side of the city such as Kennebunkport, light houses, Bath, or maybe Boothbay. There are many posting about Portland, ME on this board.
San Diego is a great place to go; there is a lot to do there. You can stay in town near the Gaslamp district or out at one of the beach towns such as Ocean Beach. It typically has great weather; for example the high temps next week are 72 to 73. They get about 12 inches of rain/year. They have a good light rail system that could be helpful depending on where you stay.
If you are looking for a beach town/place to mostly kick back and just do a little exploring there are east coast locations such as:
- the NC outer banks;
- GA has Jekyll Island/St. Simon or Tybee Island near Savannah;
- SC has Hilton Head, Charleston or even Myrtle Beach.
These places will be hotter than SD and have the potential to have a hurricane this time of year.
If it was me, I would go to San Diego assuming you do not have to quarantine for a period of time and you have not been there before.

I don’t think NYC would be an option with their travel restrictions.

Inn by the Sea
We've stayed here. Right outside of Portland, ME, so you can get some relaxing beach time but be very close to bars, breweries, and restaurants.
Maine has some pretty strict rules about out-of-state travelers right now though.
