I recently got engaged and am planning on doing my bachelor party in New Orleans for the 2022 kickoff game against Florida State. My family is from NOLA, but I personally haven't been in over 15 years (before I could drink) and was hoping to get some advice, restaurants, bars, etc. from you all. Anything will help, but I've got a group of 15 or so midwesterners and want to introduce them to Louisiana and New Orleans correctly.

As of now, we're planning on going from Friday, September 2nd through Tuesday, September 6th. Not sure if we're going to get a couple hotel rooms or an AirBnB yet. For restaurants, I currently have Cafe Du Monde, Domilise's, Brigstens, and Liuzza's by the Track. For bars, obviously, we'll go down Bourbon street a couple nights, but any particular bars to go to?

Thanks in advance and here's to looking forward when we no longer have the shrimp boat captain at the helm.

Love Carousel Bar, also hit the Sazerac in the Roosevelt.

As far as the Quarter, go get a hand rolled cigar from Cigar Factory and mexican from Felipe's just down the street.

Decadence Fest is Labor Day wknd. I’d avoid the city. Go spend the day there for the game but I definitely wouldn’t have a bachelor party there that wknd. That Saturday is going to be very interesting in the French Quarter with both events going on.

The Virgin Nola is a brand new hotel and the closest major hotel to the dome other than the Hyatt. Room rates are very affordable at the moment. I think that would be a good and fun place for a large group to stay. Good location in warehouse district.

The st. Vincent’s hotel is a great place with terrific pool but will cost more for everyone to stay there. Also not ideal location for French quarter or the dome.

Domilise’s authentic poboy shop, cash only unless changed with COVID.
Liuzza’s by Track has a killer BBQ shrimp poboy. Galatoire’s for sure-fresh French bread& pompano; Carousel Bar at Monteleone hotel; Stanley in Jackson Square next to Cathedral for breakfast-the Eggs Benedict Poor Boy; Mother’s is touristy but good hangover breakfast.

Might as well get off Bourbon one night and hit some Uptown bars frequented by Tulane and Loyola students-the Boot, F & M patio bar, Tchoup Yard, Snake and Jake’s Xmas club lounge, the Bulldog. Ye old College Inn has solid food with Rockin Bowl next door for live music and bowling.

Bacchanal Wine bar with cool outdoor patio is deep in the Bywater; Elizabeth’s also in Bywater has some killer Bloodies and great food.

Lastly, don’t let Midwestern naïveté and drunkness allow your guard down. Stick in groups and avoid the thugs, they lurk even around FQ. Head on a swivel.

Walk length of Bourbon, cross over Esplanade and walk to Frenchmen Street in the Marigny for more local vibe- Snug Harbor Jazz, dba, Spotted Cat. And, again, don’t get in altercations with any locals, they might put a cap in you. Voodoo is okay, but hoodlums lurk looking to take advantage of the drunk and unsuspecting folks.

Stay safe, enjoy, Geaux Tigers!

I just don't get the hype...

The Decadence crowd tends to stick to the far end of Bourbon Street. I wouldn't worry.

Well that's just not true at all. I have a friend that has a birthday that weekend. We always go to Harrah's to play poker.

The festival is all over downtown and the quarter...but unless you're some massive homophobe it won't be an issue.

I would definitely go out uptown for the bars...IMO they just have better options, just depending on what type of bar environment you are looking for... Then you can always hit the strip clubs/casino downtown for the night caps.

Lula is another good restaurant that I didn't see suggested. They are a distillery and have pretty good vodka and gin. I think for brunch they do bottomless mimosas and bloodys. Cooter browns, Madigans, Brunos..
