Here is my math this past season in which I rode 15 days at all IKON resorts:
Out of those 15 days, one day at Snowbird had lines on a Saturday morning hammer Pow day (which was to be expected).
So yeah that and the $1794 value makes me feel like it was an IKON steal.

Not arguing about a pass being a good deal if you go enough. I am saying the IKON resort lines are the same as Epic. The big resorts are crowded on both passes.

I switched from epic to ikon this year. Hoping for shorter lines than what I dealt with at PC but also Vail has all sorts of other problems as well. I was already considering it and then once Snowbasin moved from epic to ikon it pretty much sealed the deal

I understand your argument and based on my experience this season with 14 of 15 days with no lines, I disagree.
Now, I try as hard as possible to not ride back down to crowded base areas once I get my day started, so maybe that’s where all the IKON lines are that I’m not seeing.

WP and Copper lines get stupid on Saturdays. I rarely have a problem with lines at Keystone or Beaver. The base of Breck is always a mess.
Vail said they are capping the number of daily tickets sold but pass holders are not impacted. I’m sure that’s not a marketing ploy just before their messaging blitz for before Labor Day.

What lifts were you going on and was this weekdays only? At MJ even Challenger's janky lift gets a line and Panoramic gets down right stupid. Lifts all over the mountain at Copper are spilling the ropes by 10.
Drop that hidden gem knowledge on us.

Respectfully, Ikon resorts were significantly better for lines, and overall guest experience as well.
I couldn’t agree more.

Looking at prices for lodging looks like I may be skipping skiing this year
What a joke I’m seeing

Yeah, places like Big Sky have gone completely off the rails. If you want something cheap though, Banff is worth looking at.

Maybe consider Stowe or Killington in Vermont. They are comparable to Rocky Mountains size-wise and I have found some fairly cheap places to stay in the past. This of course depends on ski-in/ski-out being a requirement.

Ski Rental question for the board - So when renting skis, they always ask for beginner, moderate, or advanced. I normally go w/ the moderate option. I took some lessons last year and really improved my carving technique; so much so that I can now ski all day without my thighs being on fire. I can ski any blue slope with no issue and can do most blacks (some I may have to take my time on). Question is, should I go with the advance option this year. Do these skis just have a sharper edge? Appreciate any advice-Thx

Are you renting demo skis? If not, I would look into doing that and then tell them what you like to ski and they'll find a good fit. If you don't like them you can exchange them for something different.
More advanced skis are typically stiffer, which will make them more stable at speed. More advanced skis can also do other things, depending on what you are looking to ski.

I think what you are talking about is the Level 1,2,3. That’s for the DIN setting on the binding to release the ski when you fall. You can start at a 2 and if you have having early releases of the ski go back to the shop to crank them up. Starting out too high means your ACL will be the release.
Sport vs “Demo” is going to be different skis. I put demo in quotes because they are nicer skis but still have the system style bindings. Most of those demos will be a higher end all mountain ski. A true demo will have good bindings and are usually about $75 for just the skis that you can swap out to try several types with that fee being applied towards a ski purchase.

We have a trip planned to Winter Park. Currently booked at a place in Fraser that's a couple blocks from a Purple line pickup point. Can anyone tell me about reliability of The Lift bus system?
Posted on 8/29/22 at 1:08 pm to lsurulzes88
The Lift is usually very reliable, but last year they didn’t have enough drivers so they didn’t run all the routes all the time like normal.

Looks like today is the last day for Epic passes before the price increase. Sticking with Ikon this year given the shitshow at Stevens Pass (WA) last year, nice marketing attempt though Vail

Ended up changing to a rental a few hundred yards from the resort to make it easier getting kids to ski school in the mornings. Not a true ski in/out, but as close as possible for 10 people in a house.
