I currently have a Nighthawk X10 R9000 as my main router. I purchased the R8000 as a wireless access point. However, I’ve had tons of issues with netgear & looking for suggestions on a new wireless network. I’ve also tried mesh systems with zero luck! Magnolia at Best Buy is pushing for me to purchase their preferred router & wired access point but not sure if it’s worth the $$$. Please Help.

R8000 wasn't enough for me either and I ended up with Plume. Can you explain why mesh hasn't worked for you?

I have solid wall construction throughout the house, and believe it has been the primary issue for the mesh units. I’ve tried 2-3 of the mesh units, and none worked.

I have 2 of the Asus GT-5300 (one put into the AIMesh mode) and it has worked fantastically.

I had a similar problem with the Linksys Velop system that you had and am very happy I chose to return them and get the Asus

Magnolia is pushing the luxul router & it’s wireless access point. Anyone have experience with those?

shitty overpriced best buy house brand.

your problem isnt the router, its the construction of the house. they all work on the same principle, so its really doubtful changing brands is going to make much difference.
If running a switch and APs isnt an option, I would give powerline adapters a chance.

Can you expand on this?

Luxul looks to be decent features and high priced. For the same $250-300 like, I bought a Mikrotik HeX PoE with upgraded PSU + 2 unifi AC-pro without their PSU. I would definitely rebuy this for my house before a Luxul, but it all depends on what features you want and what problem you're having

My issues with the netgear have been connection issues, such as signal being in & out. Also at times it not working for hours at a time. Customer service being of little no help.

Is the wired signal up and running during this time? Because it could be either the modem, ISP, or even the cabling in your house instead of the router causing a poor signal.

So in short, have you been able to isolate the problem to the router, and if so, is it the wireless portion only?

The wired ethernet signal isn’t working but the wireless signal is.

The wireless signal functions but the wired goes out on one port? All ports? Have you tried different cables?

I know this may seem awfully basic, but sometimes I overlook the simple things
