Windows 11 - Pros/Cons

I'm thinking about going from WIN10 to WIN11.

I have Windows 11 on one of my PCs. I think it's like Windows 8 in that it's one of the most unneccessary upgrades Microsoft has ever done.
The TPM and processor requirements are BS, the taskbar is different but they removed functionality, you can't really edit it. Also seems to be slower...just sluggish performace accross the board in places there shouldn't be. There's also plenty of apps that just don't work.
Windows 10 was solid and it does everything I ask it to, and performs just fine even on older machines. I would stick with that for now if you have any doubts. Microsoft is going to keep releasing updates and security fixes for it so you should be good there.
Install 11 in a VM and try it out if you want. It's techincally fine, just not my cup of tea.

Pretty much. Though as someone with an ultrawide monitor, the new window snap options were worth it alone

hate it. for almost every single thing I do, they added a click. they shrunk menus so half the time I have to click more options to see something that used to be in the main menu.
It is slow as frick. Noticeable delay when closing programs and folders.
I have a 10900k, 32GB RAM, NVMe and 2080ti. There should be no fricking delay closing a folder.
And this is from someone who liked windows 8.

Pros: Can't think of any really.
Cons: I don't like the new Start Menu or whatever it's called.
Right-Click on the Task bar doesn't have Task Manager as a selection choice.
When you right-click on something in Windows 10, it brings up a context menu with several different options. On Windows 11, this menu only has a few choices. I had to do a registry change to bring back the old context menu I was used to. laptopmag.com

I may at some point find a pro but a few months in, I can't think of a single pro.
Well, other than an early update allowed you to kill the centered icons on the taskbar and align them left like Windows 7, 8 and 10.

I have windows 11 and like it. I've noticed no sluggishness but I also have a $5000 PC.

Yea I pinned Task Manager to my Start Menu but I'm still in the habit of right-click on the task bar to bring it up.

You might have a fricky upgrade. I would try a clean install. I don’t have any sluggishness in my system whatsoever. And while my specs are a bit better, they aren’t better enough to matter as far as OS sluggishness is concerned.

I hate it. I want the search bar back. And no I don't want to have to click the magnifier icon to search.
It also seems like my graphics card has a new update, but it won't install on windows 11.
Those are my only two issues.

Funny how different people are. I always hid the box in preference of the icon
Though it's stupid that they removed the option to switch back and forth.

This is a bit of an odd issue. What is the model of your gpu, how are you trying to update it, and how is the update failing?

I have a shitty work laptop with Windows 11 and see none of those issues.

I have it on my laptop; figured I should have it on at least one device.
It seemed a bit faster, like it had less bloat than Win 10.
Hate - HATE - the interface. Everything is in the middle of the taskbar.

If you’re saying what I think you are, they added a taskbar option to set orientation as left, right, or center. I set my back to default left.

It’s all right. The main problem I have when I install all of the updates is it takes a huge dump and gives me today’s equivalent of the blue screen of death.

I think the start menu has taken yet another step backward. Otherwise, it runs fine on my XPS.
