Question - I recently started doing some part-time WFH and I have my "office" setup upstairs. Our router is setup downstairs and while the connection isn't terrible, it's defintely not the best and is causing issues. If the best case scenoria is running wire (not an option) or setting up downstairs near the router (not an option) what is option C?

I've read online and it appears that mesh wifi router is what I should be looking into? Any recommendations here, or ideas on how to move forward?

Like I said, the current situation is not terrible, but it is bad enough that I'm up at midnight trying to find a solution... Thanks!

Edit: our internet is through ATT

If you have coax wiring there is another option.

MoCA (Multimedia over Co-Ax)
what is MoCA?

Read that link, then order a pair of adapters off Amazon if you have coax wiring and access to the junction box. Put a splitter on the wires connecting your rooms with the router and your office.

I use this method. I have internet coming in upstairs in a loft. The modem/gateway connects to my primary router. Then I have a MoCA adapter plugged into the router.

Downstairs across the house I have another adapter that plugs into the office router. This functions as an Ethernet connection between the routers increasing the range and reliability of the Wi-Fi network.

Plus, my mesh router has Ethernet ports on the back, so I can run an Ethernet connection directly to my work pc.

I have had zero complaints with this setup. Everything works perfectly. Much better than my Wi-Fi only network. And the Wi-Fi signal is better for devices throughout the house.

Google Mesh system has been amazing for me. If you search my name on this board you'll find a thread about it.

I have the tplink deco xe75 and have had no issues. 3500sqft house with one base on each side downstairs gets us max speed upstairs and downstairs in every room.

ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 AX6600 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Mesh Wi-Fi System

Works flawlessly and is a considerable upgrade over my previous Ubiquiti Amplifi mesh system.

Eero is good and the easiest mesh system, tp link Omada is the best in my opinion. Tp link deco is similar to eero
