AT&T has flipped the switch on Wi-Fi calling, making it available to customers with eligible plans that are running iOS 9 on iPhones.
I don't know about Android phones. Can some one chime in?

To activate it go to Settings>Phone>Wifi Calling

I want it. I have a microcell but think wifi calling would be more reliable.

I'm more interested in the international uses of this.
What's the cost?

It's highway robbery what they are charging people for a limited amount of data
This is the very least they can do

Wifi calling benefits the carriers as much as it does the consumer, as it de-loads the carriers network.

Allegedly Sprint and T-Mobile were offering it without an official FCC waiver for not allowing relay services for the disabled that allowed them to offer it while AT&T was waiting until they received one in accordance with the law.
Supposedly AT&T is pissed because the other carriers were openly defying the process by not obtaining a waiver and not offering relay services prior to offering it to users while AT&T played by the rules. On top of that, the FCC issued the waiver while sort've hinting that a no harm no foul ruling would be give to other carriers in response to their open defiance.
AT&T called it "asymmetrical enforcement" I think.
Long story short it wasn't AT&T withholding...they were playing by FCC rules...

What are the benefits of wifi calling?
Posted on 10/10/15 at 12:46 pm to HurricaneDunc
The main ones are for people who have limited minutes on their plan or have a house with a dead zone and can't get cell reception.
RE the International use, TMob has the best hookup. I used it last year in Mexico and Europe. Free data and it was only $.20 a minute if I called to the US. I was using my GPS and texting quite a bit and came home and had like an extra $20 bill for the calls I had to make. They've added Mexico and Canada now as the same as the US I believe.
