My TV tipped over while I was moving the other day and there is a crack that runs the length of the screen and the screen no longer works. I got a quote to repair it that cost more than what I paid for it 3 years ago... since I might as well just get a new TV instead, is there anything I can do with this TV besides throw it in the trash?

It's a 55 inch 4k Samsung QLED TV.

You can do that? I was under the impression there was some reason you couldn't. I have an old 42" sitting in a closet I need to get rid of

My 60 inch Plasma broke a few months ago, called a mom and pop TV repair place a few miles from my house and they took if off my hands.

Best Buy will recycle TVs, but pretty sure they have a fee for taking it.

Put it on the curb on garbage night. Count the minutes before it gets snatched up.

TECHNICALLY, TV's are considered hazardous waste and should not be disposed of in the trash/garbage. Most contain mercury and/or lead. Best Buy will accept them for recycling (free to drop off, a fee for them to pick up), but check on their website first. FWIW, you can't call your local best buy directly anymore...

You can also call your sanitation company and they will give you the name of your local electronics recycling...

Save it until one of your sports teams gets screwed by refs or blows it at the end of a big game. Empty 30 round mag into the TV. Post video on youtube and go viral

I've dropped off lots of stuff for recycling, and they never batted an eye. But it looks like they do have fees and limits on TVs.

Products we recycle for a $29.99 fee per item:

Limit two TVs per household per day.

- Tube TVs smaller than 32"
- Flat-panel TVs: LCD, plasma, LED
smaller than 50"
- Portable TVs

Best Buy recycling
