I have a 49” Samsung plasma tv from 2011 and it’s starting to have multiple lines on the right side of the screen. I want to buy a new tv and I am more of a Samsung guy and I am not caught up with all the new stuff that are out. What is the best tv to get on a $500 budget?

I would go with one of these from Walmart.
Check rtings.com for reviews.

That's the 4 series tcl at Walmart. If you're a Costco member you can get the upgraded 5 series 65" for $529 and I think it's worth the extra.
I just bought that same TV 3 days ago and if you use your Costco visa you get a 4 year warranty on top.

I love my TCL Roku Tv.
My next TV will be this.

The 6 series is the bomb. I was on the fence but at $719+ tax I couldn't justify $200 more than the 5 series 65".
I'm still waiting for the next major breakthrough in TV picture quality to jump on a more expensive set.

A couple years ago I got an 50'' Insignia from Best Buy..I am happy with it..I was looking at the Vizio but it didn't come with a Co-Axial input. Not sure if they have included that with the newer models. I wasn't sure if there was a work around for the OTA co-axial input so I went with the Insignia.

Vizio got killed in reviews for leaving out ota/coaxial on their sets so they started including it again.

I got a Samsung 55" 4K at black Friday for $400. Can you wait a little?

I was thinking of getting one now since I keep hearing about the tariffs with people telling everyone get the TVs and iPhones now.

My last two purchased tvs were Vizio.
One 49” and one 55” 4k Ultra HDR.
I have had issues with both. My vote is TCL.

Make sure if you get a TCL, that it has auto volume leveling. I have a 49" 4 series. It does not have it and I'm constantly having to play with the volume.

Would the 65” TCL 5 series be a good outdoor tv? Is it bright enough for that purpose?
I recently ordered a 65” 2018 Vizio M series from Costco to use as an outdoor tv but was considering the 5 series as well. I’m still waiting on the Vizio to arrive

quote:honestly no. I have it in our basement which has 24 led tubes in 6 former florescent housings. When those are all flipped on the glare on the screen is unbearable..

But again anything you but at Costco you can just take back if it doesn't work.
