I'm certain this type of fee is pretty standard across the board for these "pool" of data type planse. I mean hell even Google Fi has it.

Wow so I was getting pricing just last week for 3 lines and 8GB for the "Simply everything plan" (I think that's what it's called). Now that option isn't available and choices are 6 or 12? What is this BS.

I have 2 phones with 8gb on more everything currently. Bill is $150. With the new plan, 6gb is $140. This includes $80 for "Line Access" and $60 for messages/minutes/data/account access. WTF? I'm under contract until end of October. Will this go down then? What are these charges actually for?
If you have 8GB then your bill will go down $25/line once your contract is up if you call and ask for the Month to Month discount.

Does the access fee not make sense? Should they just charge the $80 and say have as many lines as you want?

We pay about $210 a month for 6 lines sharing 31 GB of data. Not a bad deal with VZW IMO

thanks for the tip. it looks like i'll get $15/mo per phone since i'm under 10gb ($25 for more than 10gb plans) from what I've read. that puts me at $120 for 8gb. under the new plans, i can get 12gb for $120, so i will still probably be switching. counting the days until 10/15
Posted on 8/21/15 at 9:03 am to lsujro
It's $25 for plans over 6gb since a few months ago.

awesome. will be the cheapest plan i've had in years. looks like the only thing i give up vs the new plan is the ability to pay for the phone over time?

Not at all.
The discount is for being out of contract. As long as you don't buy a phone on contract, you keep the discount. If you want to buy a new phone and divide the payments up over 24 months, you can absolutely do that without losing the discount. So for example, if you bought a new iPhone 6, its $650, which is $27/month. Your line would go down $25 for being out of contract, and then up $27. You'd be getting a new phone for two dollars a month more than you pay now, and not have to put the $199 up front like with a contracted phone.

Probably less than that if you trade you phone into Verizon. My Note 3 is worth $155. If they honor that and let me buy the Note 5 at retail minus that I'm down.

Just to clarify, you are saying under these new plans there will be no more $200 up front for the phone fees if you are paying for the phone on the 24-month subsidy?
Also, are these new plans going to push everyone who is on the grandfathered unlimited data off of that when there contract ends?

For the first part, correct. Since you are paying the phone over 24mos, you don't pay anything except tax at point of sale.
For the second part, if you switch to the new plans, you are giving up whatever current plan you have, yes.

TOTAL??? WITH VERIZON??? Yes I'm screaming as if that's correct we pay $300 for 5 lines sharing 10 gigs (which has been plenty actually). This pisses me off.

I have 9 lines sharing 31gb. We pay just under $350 taxes and all.

There was a double your data promo a while back. 30 gigs for $130. I'm guessing he has a bunch of lines out of contract/old phones/paid full price so he's only paying $15/line. The extra gig is from some promo along the way.

I dont mind having a 2 year contract. I can control myself and not NEED a new phone every 6 months.
You can keep two year plans if you are already a customer. I just redid mine. Took the 12gig plan for $80 a month. Seeing that my wife and I have our phones already its only $20 a month for each phone. So my bill with unlimited plan went from $180 to $120 before my 19% reduction from work discount. Not a bad deal saving $80 with my discount a month.

They are not renewing any contracts from my understanding. I just got a new phone on Saturday. We have a group plan and only two phones are left on contract.
With the contracts, we were paying for a data plan that we all used, and each line was charged $40 per month for phones, and $10 per month for the tablets. You paid the discounted upgrade price for your phone ~$200-$250 if you were getting the newest phones. Now I pay $20 per month for my phone to be part of the data plan and no longer get the subsidized phone. For the S6 edge, it was $31 per month. So a total of $51 for the phone in addition to the data plan. I'm paying $11 more per month than before, but didn't have to pay the up front $250. If you take that $11 extra over 24 months, it comes out to $264. So ultimately I'm paying a very small amount more than what I paid before.

You *could* have signed a contract. It would have been $40/month and $340 for the phone (its not $250). Instead you are paying $264 over two years and saving $80.
