This might not be the news you want to hear, but upgrading to the latest version of Kodi is pretty much necessary if you want to continue to enjoy streaming the way you want to. More and more streaming sites are moving to HTTPS, and older versions of Kodi do not offer HTTPS support. This means that at this point you really have no choice but to upgrade to Kodi 17.1 Krypton. This isn’t something that’s just going to go away, might as well do it now. Don’t sweat it though, upgrading Kodi is not very difficult.

If you’re still on an older version of Kodi, you may have noticed that many sources (particularly HD ones) don’t load anymore. Despite the many complaints we receive, this has nothing to do with us or our Kodi addons, it has to do with your Kodi version not supporting HTTPS. Sooner or later all sites will be streaming sources, at which point older versions of Kodi will be rendered useless. Once you’ve upgraded to Kodi 17.1 Krypton, everything will play splendidly again. We’re now going to walk you through the Kodi upgrade.

My Kodi 17 quit working two days ago all together. Did a quick reinstall and it's now 17.1. Haven't had time to mess with it yet

I did mine Sunday on the fire tv. The instructions said to delete my Jarvis version first, but I ignored this and downloaded Krypton while Jarvis was still on my fire tv.

I am glad I did because it just updated my current one and kept all of my settings, add ons, and my trakt tv integrations. So I highly recommend leaving your older version on there when downloading krypton.

I haven't had any trouble with it since I installed Krypton. I'm using the Fury build which is awesome. I posted a link on page 44? Of the cord cutting thread. Once you install that build you have the option to keep trakt settings etc.

Trakt allows you to keep the movies movies and tv shows you want to watch in que.. so you don't have to search every time. Pretty clutch

Trakt allows you to search online at Trakt and add things to your favorites online. Much easier than using a remote to search for things. I don't use it much because I don't use Kodi to often but it is handy.

Use exodus, then set up trackt acct. online on pc or phone, then add subscribe to movies on trackt. They will now be in your collection in exodus. Now long press favorites on kodi and you can add your collection to favorites.

Also if you want your collection to be in alphabetical order you have to do it on the trakt site, not on kodi.

I got a Apple TV with krypton 17 off of eBay and I don't know how I will be able to update it to 17.1 because I am not computer savvy.

This is exactly what I want to do. Do you have a link for how you pulled it off?

Are you able to get google play store on the Fire tv? If so just uninstall kodi and download the new version from the play store.

Also I still use Jarvis because it's more stable than the krypton 17.1. I also use durex build from the Ares Wizard because of the paid addons that I use. I haven't had any problems with Jarvis yet. With krypton 17.1 and 17 my nvidia shield kept freezing and restarting kodi, so I just reinstalled Jarvis and haven't had any issues.
