Why don't you just go with the ATT uverse internet? That way you won't have to worry about the data cap and you can bundle and get cheaper internet.
It's not available in my part of the neighborhood as of yet. Other parts that do have it have seen spotty service.

My exudus add on disappeared. Should I redownload?

You should already have add-on installer installed. Just go into that, go to video add-ons, then re-download Exodus. It does this every now and then.

Gamechanger. I assume you can broadcast across multiple tea at the same time subject to wifi speed?

very interesting, i'm on the cusp of cord cutting and this is the direction i might take.

What route of Cord cutting are you interested in going with?
Just OTA and having Netflix/Amazon Video
OTA + a monthly streaming service
I definitely recommend the Fire TV for KODI. Just having that as an option is a major draw to Cord cutting. It also holds the possibility to go with all the major TV Streaming services (Sling TV, PS Vue, DirecTV Now).

yeah, i was going to go OTA, and maybe psvue?
cut the cord, and bump up internet considerably?
already have a firestick/chromecast as well.

You're in Houston, right? Got any accessible windows that are in the direction of the major towers?
Or are you open to running an antenna in the attic? This option is very easy if you already have cable. Just swap out the coax cable that's currently ran to the power line to your antenna. But if it's also for your internet, you'll have to fish a new line down
Do you have a PS4? If so, PS Vue is a good option. You should check the channel line-ups though. Viacom channels are not on it anymore and it's the same price. DirecTV Now offers a free Apple TV ($150 retail) if you sign up for the $35/month pre-paid deal ($105 in total) for 3 months. I prefer it to Vue, but both services blow Sling TV out of the water.

Tablo gets delivered today and this storm knocks the power out.
Let us know what you think.
Its been hooked up for a couple days now and so far I like it in general. Im still having random buffering issues at times for some reason. But when I switch to DTVN it streams flawlessly. I checked my download speeds when this happens and they have been dipping way below what they should. So Im thinking the Tablo requires more bandwidth to stream than DTVN. Dunno. I pay for 100 Mbps from Eatel and last night I was running around 10-12 and even dipped below 7 couple times. This is when the Tablo would freeze/buffer. So I think I have other issues and not one with Tablo. Im still running Eatels router and have a Nighthawk in the box ready to be hooked up. I think that should help out with speeds but not sure.
As for Tablo Itself, the interface is pretty easy to use. Couple things I do not like is that you have to back out a show completely to access the guide to see whats on. And currently there is no support for surround sound. This isnt huge as the only thing I will use Tablo for is local news and football games.
ETA: think I solved my freezing issue. I was trying to stream everything 1080 and not 720. I don't have enough bandwidth to support the 1080 stream.

This has been a very informative thread. My problem is that I can't seem to get WAFB with one of the cheaper indoor antennas. I'm in the middle of BR and I was wondering if I should go to the trouble of installing an outdoor antenna or is there a suggestion for a good indoor antenna from any of you experts??

I have this bad mammajamma in my attic. Winegard HD7694P High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna. Not my actual attic, but this is the setup I have. Antenna was $60 and mount was $15.
I believe WAFB is 1080P also with this setup. Others (local news) are 720.

I ask because the Tablo needs zero internet bandwidth when you are watching at home. It grabs the signal off the air and saves/streams it locally. It never leaves your network, so you don't need the internet at all.
Of course, this only applies when you are watching at home. If you are watching away from home, then your Tablo does need the internet, but it's your UPSTREAM bandwidth that matters here. Typically home internet upstream is only 1/10th to 1/5th as fast as the downstream speed. You can adjust the bandwidth that Tablo uses for remote viewing, so if you are having buffering issues you can turn it down. The quality won't be as good, but at least it won't buffer as much.
Now, if you are having buffering issues while watching Tablo at home, then your router might be failing and that Nighthawk will help. Also, if you are watching on your phone, just double check that you are actually connected to your wifi when this happens. If you aren't, the Tablo is sending the video out to the internet then back down to your phone. That wouldn't be ideal.

Off ATV4 Tablo app. But prior to last night it did not matter if I was on ipad, phone or ATV, it would buffer every 20-40 seconds. Yesterday when I switched it to 720, I was able to watch on ATV and ipad at same time (two streams) and not one single issue for the couple hours I had it on.

This is all the technical stuff I dont always understand, mainly because Ive never taken the time to research how this all works. But have been learning more and more since trying to cut the cord.
If the Tablo sends the stream to my ATV app via WIFI, dose that take bandwidth? Based off what I been reading on some of the Tablo Community forums, changing my stream back to 720 (recommended by Tablo) would help with my issue due to taking less Mbps. This is what I did yesterday and everything fine.

Have a feeling this is limiting my service some. Ive had them replace their router 2 times in 5 years of having this lightwave. I was hoping to return all their crap tomorrow and officially cut the cable but want to have Tablo figured out first.
Appreciate the help
