Not too sure about that

I've always heard that downloading is what can get you in trouble so I always just stream.
Not sure how true that is, but I've always stuck to that rule.

Basically the download feature works by just saving to disk what you are streaming. To the ISP it looks no different.
I've done it on the computer and it worked well. Guess I have some tinkering to do and I will report back

Uploading is what got everyone in trouble and what still gets folks in trouble.
When you grab a torrent you are uploading and downloading at the same time. They can claim you helped to create 1000s of pirated copies by uploading to large groups of people.
When you are streaming, you are viewing ( downloading) what someone else has uploaded. Worst case scenario, you are guilty of copyright infraction for 1 single copy. Minimal damages.
To date, I've never heard of someone being sued for streaming.
Damages are small. You aren't committing piracy. You aren't selling or sharing copyrighted material so in court the damages they would be able to prove would be tiny.
I wouldn't be surprised at some point if laws were put in place to increase penalties for downloading as well as uploading but there really isn't a need. They could sue people all day and night and still not put a dent in torrenting and at the moment they would lose piles of money trying to sue streamers.
No real incentive to go after streamers. Best they can do is lean on ISPs.
Over simplification of the issue, but at the end of the day it isn't worth it at the moment to go after streamers when they have an unlimited pool of people still torrenting.

As long as it isn't a metal radiant heat barrier you are should be fine.
I just ordered an antenna for the attic. One step closer to dumping DirecTv.

Going to put off the purchase of the Tablo system until closer to football season.

Anybody have a good add-on for live streaming sports? Specifically the NBA playoffs.
I have looked through a ton an only one that works is on ProSports but it rarely ever isnt buffering or extremely slow.

Any changes?
FirstrowSports.EU has been repaired. I have been having problems with that one for a couple of weeks. But overall everything looks the same. Just a maintenance release.

Hey all, I've been a lurker on this thread for a while. Thanks for all the info on here; it's been very useful. I recently dumped Cox tv, got Vue and Kodi setup on my Firestick, and am using an antenna for my local channels.
I would like to have an app on the Firestick that has the tv listings of those OTA channels (something similar to a TV guide app) so I don't have to change the tv input, then flip thru those channels just to see what's on. Does anyone know of a way to do that? I assume if Kodi is that easy to get onto a Firestick, then it should be possible to get something similar to a TV guide app as well. Any ideas? Thanks again.

What kind of phone do you have? I have an OTA guide on my phone that works great. It actually controls my TV in case I can't find my damn remote
Peel Smart Remote is the app.. I have it on my Galaxy S5

Both the wife and I have iPhones. I'll look into Peel. Thanks for the rec. We both have the TV guide app on our phones but it'd be nice if it were on the big screen. Any other thoughts? Thanks

Does anyone have the link to the federal law that allows OTA to be placed on your house regardless of HOA rules. I got the Clearstream 2V and put it up. I caught the President of HOA standing next to my house looking at it as I was glancing out of the window in the Kitchen. He never knocked on the door so he might not say anything but just in case I would like to have the federal law handy just in case. Appreciate the help.

Yea....its a little complex and you need a computer on your network running Windows Media Center. Windows Media Center is included with all Win 7 and earlier Windows machines.(if you have a computer running win 8 ir higher, you can install NextPVR. I haven't used it though) You'll also need an tuner card interface to your computer such as HDHomerun which serves as tuner and network distribution hub. They run $100 or so. Here are setup instructions. It is a multi step process but I powered through it and now have a full tv guide in kodi for OTA channels. I click on the channel I want and watch in Kodi. I also can record OTA channels through Kodi just like with a DVR. The recordings stay on my computer and I watch through Kodi with pause, FF and rewind capabilities.
