I had to user both the presence detector and pressure sensor to avoid any false positives from running just one or the other.

Since this is the guest bedroom as well as the office, I'm in and out of there a good bit doing random things, so I didn't want just the presence sensor to trigger an automation if I'm just in there tidying up the room. I also didn't want a guest to come in and place their phone in the stand, and have it run all the automations then.

I have to place my phone in the stand, and be detected by the presence detector in order for the automations to run.

For the presence detector, I got a simple ESP32 Wifi/BT board and flash esp presence onto it. For the Pressure sensor, I bought some small/thin pressure sensor pads, soldered them to a zigbee door sensor, and added it to ZHA. That's why in the gif on the last page it shows "open" and "closed" states when the phone is off or on the stand

Edit: My next project is setting up my MagWLED board and getting it connected to a 320mmx160mm pixel LED board, so I can display things like the babies crying/waking up in their cribs, camera detection around the house, etc while sitting at my desk (typically have my headphones on so I cant hear shite lol)

Do you have a switch with POE? If so, run some cable through the wall behind the tablet and use an Ethernet to USB adapter to charge/power the tablet

Oh nice so you already have power behind the tablet, that makes life easier

I had to run a my Ethernet cable in the wall down to the outlet below with a POE injector to get one of my POE tablets online. Couldn't have a wire running outside on the wall since it wouldn't have passed wife approval

i just spent 3 hours in my attic and cut 3 holes in my walls to get an ethernet cable from the attic down to my router so the new industrial POE switch in the attic can get internet before my new POE cameras come today.

I dont know how i haven't seen this thread. Great work guys. My wife would kill me if I started another project. I have an app and novel to finish

this thing never ends. Added a security dashboard so I have the Batman control room look and added a phone-only dashboard so I can now send YouTube video IDs to the TV directly, make the video fullscreens, change dashboards, stop and play music.. Basically I don't need a keyboard behind the bar anymore unless I need to reboot the PC or something.

Don't know why I didn't do this before. So much easier to show it off when I can do everything from my phone.

Cajun is reading this thread I know his new stream but I'm not sure he wants it out there until it settles down. You can thank the babies who ratted him out for losing the original.

Re browser I never need to open the app this way. I'm always using my phone browser so it's much easier to switch tabs and be right where I want to go without having to open an app and navigate.

ETA you like my rotate display toggle? That's so I don't get burn in on the main display but I can turn it off if I just want the main bar display to stay up.. Like if an LSU baseball game is on.
