Looks good. I like what you did with it. You should go into HACS and redownload it for the latest version. I'm on v0.2.6 now with some nice additions. I'll be adding optional radar/satellite overlays soon.
Go to config and change your "which storms to show" to all. There's more than one right now.

i have a feeling if i reconceive this PC from the ground up i can get alot more out of it.

i'm already unhappy with my UX design again. it still feels off and not what a good designer could come up with. i think i should ditch the blue cards in favor of something a little less obnoxious. just haven't seen anything yet that inspires me.
i cant believe how 99% of the HA dashboard stuff i see on the web looks like this
literally the opposite of where i'm going
my friend has the 2 energy monitors hooked up (hard-wired!) and i can't wait to do something like this:
gonna be straight up FIYA! i want to have the waterfall animated and flowing into his larger consumers (elevator, swim spa, garage lift, tesla charger, hvac, water heater, etc.) and have those waterfall 'segment streams' expand and contract, and change color from green to dark red depending on which circuit is pulling the most energy.
i've already got a plan for SONOS to greet him when he arrives back at the house with say, how much electricity he's spent on heating that swim spa so far that day. something like "Good job, you've spent $7.37 today already on that damn spa. I hope you actually get in it tonight. Also the dryer finished an hour ago. A smart man would go unload it and fold the clothes before his wife notices."
I've already set up my design for his system to include a global 'jokes' database of everything i know about him and his family, chinese elevator, etc. so it can create entity-specific humor for any dashboard.
i'll sync it up with his monthly bill cycle so we can see how close it comes to the actual bill each month and keep a running total for the month for each circuit.
i am going to do a video run through when this sucker is up and going. he's going to have the most entertaining smart home ever.
ETA just added 'follow up' gags.
quote:
Follow-up gags are now a core Happy Hill behavior.
The key is that they will be stateful, not random. Home Assistant will remember that it just nudged him about the dryer, open a short callback window, and then react if he follows through.
Example flow:
Homecoming Brief: “The dryer finished 47 minutes ago. You may want to handle that before your wife notices.”
Then, if the dryer door opens within the next several minutes:
Laundry-room Sonos: “You have chosen wisely.”
The engine will support:
one-time callbacks
short expiration windows
nearest-speaker delivery
quiet-hours and guest safeguards
positive reinforcement
delayed punchlines
mild escalation when something remains ignored
callback chains across laundry, energy, Tesla, robots, doors, locks, weather, and appliances
That will make the house feel like it remembers what it just said instead of firing disconnected jokes.

Just a note to say you guys are killing me with everything you're doing. I'm going to re-read this entire thread to understand how I can get up to speed so I can get in the game. I'm having a ball messing around with the ESP32, but just installed Home Assistant and Uptime Kuma to expand what I report. Having said that, I want a big arse screen with nice graphics. I'm willing to invest in some automation devices as well.
Well done, guys.

let me know that that update hits HACS
would love to try out the satellite overlay. can you set it to automatically rotate between all 3 views; say every 5 seconds or something? that would be really cool. i can do it through a script but that might be an attractive feature to have a one-button enable for.

i stay humbled at what my fellow tech board baws can do and the overall talent on this board. its very impressive. theres about a half dozen or more baws in this thread that really know what the hell they're doing.
ETA Aaron's got himself a pretty sweet high-profile HAC integration going and perfect timing for the season.

hey aaron, what do you think about this? i am helping my friend from 300 miles away so anytime i visit him, it needs to be productive and forgetting something key to the project could mean a very expensive trip where nothing gets accomplished. this also helps me to remember what the hell i told him to buy
of course AI helped me come up with it, but if you note the tabs along the bottom; there are detailed sections for each aspect of the project (you may have to open the screenshot in a new window to see it full-size) but so far this has been a life-saver.
This is 'soup to nuts' and represents not just the 'plumbing' of networking infrastructure, but connecting and provisioning all this crap, the HA dashboard builds and getting to MVP. once the 'on site' stuff is all in place, remoting in will make the final parts easy like chicken falling off a bone.
with your PM background, i thought you may have some thoughts on this.

I see what you've been busy with.
This looks like a huge undertaking and you're definitely going to need a way to track it like this. I think Dallas would have better input on this than me. One thing I might add would be breaking things down to build phases so you maximize your time and can eat the elephant in manageable bites. I can't remember if this is new construction or not. What are y'alls plans for door locks? What always kept me away from them was the battery changes. If a new build, are you planning on getting power to the doors?

You got right to the heart of it!
Schlage zwave+ locks. You're correct the battery life is a concern and we're doing zwave over Ethernet and hopefully we'll have enough other zwave devices to harden the mesh enough we won't run into locks losing battery life rapidly due to placement. It's a concern and he's putting in a $13k pivot door so I'm not trying to mess up anything by drilling channels in.
Having said that I'm going to keep my options open for this. My locks die every 6 months or so and it's annoying although with the battery life showing inside HA now, I don't panic when I see the blinking red light on the door because I can see it's still at 20% so I get another month out of them now when I used to swap the batteries when they showed it was low.
Yes new construction. Still a few weeks out for electricity but the drywall has started going in so wiring playtime is starting to come to an end

Hello gents,
I've been very busy building this voice assistant on my portal+ and I think I'm really getting somewhere.
Would you all be so kind as to give me 3-5 test questions that are on the difficult side? I asked this thing who led the LA rams in rushing in 1979 and it nailed it plus gave me the yardage.

"I'm going to bed. close up the house."
Should know lights, locks, tv, etc.

I don’t use smart locks.
1. I just don’t have tolerance for most residential crap: batteries, latency, ecosystems, etc. when I know how things “should” work. I think it’s the delta that bothers me more than anything.
2. Commercial stuff would require exposing strike plates or drop bolts. That doesn’t fit our architecture.
3. I live in North Texas and the ground moves here. Not often and not much but manual allows that human touch and more alignment variance.
4. We only enter through garage anyway and so do most guests. Those are automated.
I would defiantly look into concealed drop bars if new construction.
Also there really just isn’t a big demand for bringing commercial capabilities into the home. Everything is dead simple meaning no communities and most things are commoditized meaning no marketing. Residential DIYers will always follow the flashing lights, adverts, and echo chambers more than the spec sheets. The only way to sell this stuff is in person and with either demonstration or a lot of trust. This makes developing software extremely frustrating because you can make something literally 50x faster and easier with no external telemetry using equipment 5x cheaper and 10x more reliable and nobody gives a damn. I’m guessing that same pattern would exist for those developing hardware.
Edit: also I would be game for a back door solution. Two of ours mostly just stay locked but the main one is basically treated like an interior door as our pool/patio is an extension of the home. We’re in and out randomly at all hours. 99% presence detection for frictionless smart locking automation would probably take 4-5 more decent outdoor cameras and endless testing.

I even put one on my shed because it's super annoying to need a tool out of it and I realize the keys are in the house and I'm dirty from head to toe.
ETA this is great peace of mind for the rest of my family who doesn't pay attention to the doors like I do to be able to glance at the TV and know everything.

That’s the part I want but isn’t in reach just yet for zero friction. I have presence and zones good enough to automatically “arm” perimeter without false alarms. HA knows who comes from inside and who is out of place. Still, my main back door is an extension of my home. With mechanical auto egress and a few more decent cameras, I could auto lock while avoiding locking people out maybe but that’s excessive. Almost weekly there is someone at midnight in the pool behind some column or water feature for an extended period.
There is a hard tradeoff between convenience and security and I’m not sure it can be reliably broken with either money or effort.

The dirty little secret is the smart locks alone can't tell you if the door is secure without something else like your camera or a door open/close sensor since all it's really telling you is the bolt is extended and not if the door is closed or not.
In my example the shed is notorious for this because I often leave the door open while I'm going in and out so just because it says it's locked that doesn't mean squat.
