Question - is there any way you can adjust the settings on a firestick so it'll stay on rather than start rotating pictures?

We're accustomed to leaving a set or two on at all times around the house.

thanks for any assistance

Do you mean how to turn off the screensaver?

If that will leave me tuned into my TV app, yes?

Not to sound snooty or whatever, but have you thought about changing your habits?

The screen saver is to prevent burn in on a static screen. May not be an issue for your TV. I'm not aware of how to turn it off, but I've so never tried, IMO it's a good thing.

IMO he’s asking a technical question and not advice on how to change his life and habits.

IMO, I didn't suggest he change his habits, I just offered info on why it's there and stated I was not aware of a way to turn it off as a firestick user. Not sure if you meant to reply to me or if that was directed at me.

It wasn’t directed at you. You had a valid point. I wasn’t really trying to be a jerk but reading it back it looks that way.

Yeah I know, and I was serious when I said I wasn't trying to sound snooty with the suggestion. Leaving a TV streaming when not being watched might be an issue if OP's ISP has data caps. It's just a consideration that some might not think about in the transition from cable to streaming.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the issue is. If there's something streaming, the firestick won't go to the screensaver. OP, exactly what app are you using, and what state do you want it to stay in? Always streaming something? Just loaded up and ready to go whenever? Or what?

On your firestick go to settings, display & sounds, screensaver, start time.. choose ‘Never.’

It will still go to ‘sleep’ though

You can disable sleep by following the instructions here:

LINK

I've been using it for the last year on my Fire Stick 4K, and it continues to work with the recent updates, Amazon OS 6.2.7.6 IIRC.

It sounds like the OP wants TV to keep playing in the background. That’s going to be dependent on what he’s watching. If he’s watching a movie on Prime or Netflix it will stop when it’s done and go to screen saver shortly after.

If he’s watching a TV show it will go to the next episode but I think both eventually ask if you’re still watching. If you aren’t there to answer it will go to screen saver.

This was my experience with PSVue too, I don’t know if other streaming services look for engagement to keep playing but I’d expect them all to try and make sure there’s engagement since so much is ad driven.

Another option would be to put OTA antennas on your TV's. I use fire sticks and IPTV services but also have the mohu leaf style antennas on all of my sets. If I'm leaving the tv on and not really watching I'll switch inputs and just have the OTA channels playing.

YouTube TV will just play forever if you are watching Live TV.

I think either the app or the device will prompt the user for input after maybe 6 hours.

Web browsers don't do that anymore for YTTV. It's at least 10 hours now. It used to be maybe 3-4 hours, and that was really annoying.

Don't know. I don't watch much more than three hours or so on my Fire Stick or Apple TV. I have a little 10" secondary monitor that's on all day running YYTV in Edge, typically without much interaction, so that's how I know about browsers.
