If I were Bob Iger, I'd call Favreau and offer him complete control of the entire Star Wars properties. As soon as he accepted, I'd call Kennedy in for a meeting, and make that bitch sit through a fifteen minute YouTube video of fans crying tears of joy when they realize it's Luke ripping through the Dark Troopers. When it ended, you just look at her, say "You're fired", and have security escort her arse straight out the front door.
Do it on a busy day, too, so all the rank and file get to see her get walked out.
That's great. I'm gonna massage that script a little if you don't mind.
Favreau: Thanks, Bob, but I don't wanna hurt Kennedy. I like Kennedy.
Bob Iger: You can’t do that, man. I mean you don’t abuse ’em once in a while they’ll shite all over you. Like sometimes, when they embarrass you in front of your friends, you make 'em watch some YouTube in front of the whole crew. After you show 'em what should have been, you're like, “What am I? Some kind of fricking a-hole? Get your coat on fast and you don’t say goodnight to nobody! You understand me?” That’s to keep them humble. When you don’t let them say goodnight to nobody, they walk out looking at the fricking floor.
Favreau: You're right, Bob. You're always right.

Intro to Band in the Run
Wow, really? The sequence of guitar double stops alternating with synthesizer taken over by the wistful vocals is very evocative to me. Then again, I also like the intro to "Venus and Mars." lol
BTW, anyone who doesn't own the Bluray of "Rockshow" (1980) needs to get it. Sad to realize the lead guitarist, Jimmy McCullough, died of an overdose in 1979 before the film was even released. Also ironic that he played his anti-drug song "Medicine Jar" during the set and wasn't known as a junkie. Crazy.
Sadly, all the streaming TV replacements have managed WRT that is to recreate the Cable TV package with worse UIs. OTOH, YouTube TV's cloud DVR is a game changer, and I really love the ability to use it on every device from PCs to mobile to TVs, so it's not a total lateral move. I would never go back to Cable TV, so I guess they win.
SPOILER
Always fun to see Michael Papajohn.

Why the hell are we paying hundreds of dollars each year for CATS and a library?
Add BREC to your list.
Oh look, it's the ignorant "I want to live in a real shithole" crowd.

Would you really NOT recommend taking a daily vitamin D supplement with some sunlight for the only reason that it wasn’t studied? If a study found that it did work, would you feel ok with not recommending such an innocuous thing earlier? I can’t understand this position at all.
If people want to take it while still practicing masking and social distancing, I have no problem with it. OTOH, I think I've seen people in this thread say they've been taking it for six months without stating if they're deficient, and hey presto, no COVID! Guess what, I haven't been taking it, and also no COVID.
However, I will say I can't help but think of Linus Pauling, the brilliant chemist who pushed mega-doses of Vitamin C for decades, and nobody talks about that anymore. It's a stain on his legacy. I would be surprised if Vitamin D turned out to be the answer for COVID all along.
That is a firehose of undiluted disinformation.

why would you investigate it further in the heat of a pandemic? thats the beauty of it. It's something that people should be doing anyway.
Because you always have to study things to see if they actually work. Otherwise, you have people doing rain dances and every other nonsense under the sun.
Did they do a hateful family holiday dinner? Wiig used to crack me up in this sketch:

quote:
Even still, a vitamin D supplement and 30 min of sunshine is nearly zero risk and possibly high reward
I would investigate it further.

There’s really no reason not to suggest this other than the current political environment
The problem there is not with recommending it but suggesting it's a sure thing and promoting unsafe behavior. That has not worked out well for red herrings like hydroxychloroquine.
re: OT did you know that you’re a bellwether?
Posted by Blini on 12/20/20 at 9:24 am to DavidTheGnome
A "bellwether" is a castrated ram with a bell around its neck that leads the flock, which is not off the mark, all boards considered.

I read about this early on and how Scandanavian countries that get very little sunlight also heavily supplement Vitamin D. Maybe that helped Sweden look so good?
Sweden was all about the herd immunity.
As Covid death toll soars ever higher, Sweden wonders who to blame Champions of herd immunity once lauded the Nordic refuseniks. All that has changed now
quote:
Now those hopes have been dashed, with the level of new daily cases, hospitalisations and deaths once again far above that seen in the country’s Nordic neighbours, Dr Tegnell and his former boss Johan Giesecke are no longer granted near daily interviews from herd immunity advocates in the British and US media.

Didn’t the AMA this week state that hydroxychloroquine is an essential medicine to fight the effects of Covid ? Didn’t they admit THIS WEEK that they were wrong, perhaps costing 100,000 lives?
No, the AMA didn’t rescind statement on hydroxychloroquine
Rush Limbaugh lied to you, as he always does.
And wear your fricking mask like the AMA tells you to do with its profile pic.

Didn’t gates introduce a vaccine in Africa that caused 500,000 sterilization ?
Sounds like Facebook. Facebook is cancer. Get rid of it.

useless hydroxychloroquine
Ok doc.
Clearly, you think you're making an intelligent, well-informed comment. Answer me this. What did Trump and his accomplices including Cryin' Hair Rudy and Chris Christie barge to the front of the line to take when diagnosed with COVID? Hint: It wasn't hydroxychloroquine. It wasn't ivermectin. It wasn't oleander from the My Pillow crackhead.

By that logic, why should we listen to anyone that’s not a health professional?
Well, Peter Navarro is the Trump "economist" Jared literally found on Amazon.com, who used taxpayer money to buy 60 million doses of useless hydroxychloroquine and told Erin Burnett his justification was a Scott Adams video on YouTube.
OTOH, Bill Gates is a genuinely smart motherfricker who's spent the past 15 years of his life funding health initiatives all over the world with his own billions and in general thinking about how to improve the human condition going forward.

I'm wondering how long it will be before the trans community will become outraged over the Buffalo Bill character "being portrayed as mentally disturbed because they are trans".
"Billy's not a real transsexual. He thinks he is, he tries to be. He's tried to be a lot of things, I expect."
quote:
I'm amazed it's flitted about under the radar for this long.
Nothing like a culture warrior anticipating his outrage and getting preemptively riled up. It's so unusual and interesting. lol
I thoroughly enjoyed the series, but I have to reiterate a common criticism and a couple of observations I'm sure have already been made in this thread.
What is the purpose of stormtroopers? Not just their armor, but the people in it. lol
They asked the hooded figure if he was a Jedi, but they didn't ask him his name. I guess it could be a "man with no name" sort of thing, but jeez, it seems like a natural follow-up question.
Luke has activated god mode. Skilled and versatile as he is, Mando wouldn't last half a second in a fight against him.
I hope Boba Fett finds some people for his court.

I for one find it hilarious how the vaccine went from being called the Trump vaccine to the Biden vaccine, simply from the results of the election.
Where are you getting that? I know it as the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine, the AstraZeneca vaccine, and there are a few others coming up, J&J being one I can think of.

Thanos was a genocidal psychopath. He could have halved populations actually at risk by moving them to planets like the deserted one he retired to.
I'd love to see the real backstory to what happened to his planet. His advanced, spacefaring species didn't just fall apart due to overpopulation. Clearly, he destroyed his own world, and then he was left with nothing better to do than keep killing.
