Fake news. I had to go to the azure Reddit sub to get the story.

You can't believe anyone anymore.

BTW it's back up now

Yes, it is. It shows all services up the whole day when they were not

Network Infrastructure - North Central US

Last updated 3 minutes ago Starting at approximately 19:34 UTC on 06 Nov 2017 a subset of customers in North Central US may experience degraded performance, network drops or time outs when accessing Azure resources hosted in this region. Engineers have determined that this is caused by an underlying Network Infrastructure Event in this region which is currently under investigation. Impacted services will be listed on the Azure Status Health Dashboard. Engineers are aware of this issue and are actively investigating. The next update will be provided in 60 minutes, or as events warrant.

Dude it was A COMPLETE OUTAGE for the better part of 2 hours affecting all of North America.

That status page was not reporting it accurately because I think they blamed it on a tier 3 backbone outage out of their control.

Please read the official azure Twitter below if you choose not to believe me.

I'm not trying to argue but we have 5 million customers on our platform and none of them could log in so I don't care what that status page claimed, it was down for everyone.

I was heavily involved with emergency response on this so I know exactly to the second when service was restored.

Gotcha, if you happen to see the RCA when they post it and can post it here I’d be interested in seeing what true cause was.

Words can't accurately describe the feeling of dealing with a broken db

The downside of going all or mostly cloud.

Outages can happen on premise too. Cost of doing business.

Redundant network for a redundant system (interchangeable primary and backup) with redundant network to a DR with every change going through a QAS system in listening mode the majority of which is built on ESXi RAID10... that's behind it's own firewall behind the corporate firewall both requiring dual factor...

And shite still hits the fan every once in a while.

Yep but that’s a nice setup.

Love ESXI HA and SRM.

Maybe you should check your ADFS. 99% of the time that’s where the problem lies.

Not picking sides or trying to nit pick but you posted

So

a subset of customers in North Central US may experience degraded performance

is not

A COMPLETE OUTAGE for the better part of 2 hours affecting all of North America

Didn't fine tooth the twitter feed to see if stated something different and I'm sure it is possible the situation could easily have escalated after the first info you posted.

In any case, pain in the butt situation to deal with. If you and your customers are out, its the same as the whole world being out to them. Glad for you that it's back up.
