Switching over from an iphone to a Samsung Galaxy: what will I need to learn?
That iPhones are complete pieces of garbage and you should have gotten a Samsung a long time ago. Seriously I know many people, including myself that much rather the Galaxy because the iPhone is just pure trash.

everybody who switched, would you ever switch back to Apple?
I went to HTC One 3 years ago, I switched back to the iPhone. I never liked it as much as the iPhone, I switched for the bigger screen thinking I would grow to like it. In the end the battery life sucked, and while It is more customizable, you have to take the time and buy the necessary apps to take advantage of that and I just wasn't into doing all that, lazy I guess.

I switched from an IPhone to an LG G3 and loved it. Switched from the G3 to an S6...easily the worst phone ever. My wife has the same phone and we both agree they are junk.

Switched in january from a iPhone 5s to s6 active. Very easy transfer. I now wish I would have gone with a nexus because I hate all of the Samsung software they add on.
The switch was easy, it's really just about finding the apps that you like and work for you. The only main issue I have had is getting my phone to work right with ford sync on my truck.
I'm really interested about when samsung is going to release the Marshmellow update

. I cannot seem to find an app for Microsoft Exchange e-mail that will chime for each e-mail. It will only chime for the first e-mail, and if I don't dismiss the notification, it won't chime again.
Try Mailwise.

Well I went from an Iphone 4 (5 year old phone) to a Samsung Galaxy S5..so it was great. Still getting used to some things but I enjoyed the switch.

What problems are you having? You are trying to activate it on Project Fi?

you're doing it wrong if your first step wasn't to download WUGFRESH NRT (Next Root Toolkit) and run your phone through that before setting it up.

Huh? I'm switching for a cycle because I'm bored with the iPhone but they have been far better quality wise than anything else I've used

i used to be one of the biggest abusers of custom roms and rooting on the planet..even so much i converted my Microsoft HD2 phone into an android phone!
however, you would have been better selecting a pure android device like a nexus where the OS is simple, buttery smooth and without any 'custom crapware' because lets face it, even the most modest XDA custom ROM builder can outdo that shite HTC, LG & samsung infect their phones with.
as for me, i'm done with all that. a simple root when i get the phone will suffice for power toggles & adaway and a small handful of apps that require it.

They were supposed to port my old phone number over and so far no luck. I guess I have to live with a number change

You shouldn't of had to do that. There was a way to get your number ready for the switch. Did you have the Project Fi app installed. Check out that link and see if it helps.
