Considering the MyQ but I see there is a subscription required for Google and Siri. Suggestions for something I can remotely close a garage door left open.

I've had MyQ for a few years and I have not had any issues since installation.

There are many "smart" alternatives to MyQ, but you are going to need to have a hub of some kind to operate them.

i gave mine away because the new garage door systems i purchased won't work with myQ because Chamberlain is a dick company.

Also you can't set up any automation with myQ without paying. at best you can use your phone as a glorified remote control without incurring fees.

I have the MyQ and love it so far over the last 5 years. I do not have a ecosystem tho just several apps for different things. I may change my mind when I try to get things on board with apple since the Fam is a apple fam.

Have MyQ for a couple years now. Has been flawless for me and have never paid any subscriptions. Use the app on my phone or my watch.

I figured there were someone wifi ones out there, but didn't feel like going back to edit my post. I should have said "most will require a hub."

That NEXX looks like its just a modified Sonoff switch.

Considering the MyQ

Im about to smash a MyQ.

I have a chamberlain liftmaster opener. During the setup it will open and close the door several times. Then it says it doesnt recognize itself.

Call the MyQ service number. I had issues when first setting it up, and they talked me through fixing the user errors. Then I had to replace the garage door opener, and it turns out I had the wrong type of wall button which was conflicting with the MyQ; again within minutes they walked be through fixing the issue.

i have a couple zwave+ units that simply splice into the wires coming in from the doorbell controls. work with virtually everything that way.

I had to replace 2 garage doors within the past year because of a lightning strike. I got the smart Chamberlain openers and they have been great. No issues. I think the app and notifications are pretty simple.

What is the benefit of Nexx?

I replaced my old opener with a Chamberlain that's why I looked into the MyQ.
I have some google minis and one switch. I would like to start adding things to the google home but I'm not stuck one one ecosystem as the items I have were very cheap!

if you have voice assistants in your house they will automatically close the doors for you when you say 'good night' or you can yell 'alexa shut the damn garage door' from your bed.

myQ doesn't support voice and they have a pay-per-month model to get access to IFTTT and other automation.

not sure you can do much with a myQ except use your phone as a glorified remote door opener.

eta i'm sure myQ is looking to add more features but right now their subscription model for a frickING GARAGE DOOR COMMAND is shite.

eta here. this describes it better. prices are obviously outdated

Most people are not home automation junkies like some of us and only want basic functionality like a wifi remote or just to check the status of their garage door.

Also, you can integrate MyQ into Home Assistant (and I assume some other systems) which opens up all the automation one could desire.
