Stuck in AT&T Contract

Here is my situation. I currently have a HTC One M8 that I got from AT&T in September 2014. It worked great for a while, but now is freezing up way too often and having trouble connecting on calls and missing texts. It has been giving me so much trouble lately that I have decided to switch over to the dark side and get an iPhone.
Problem is, I'm still under contract for another year. I can switch to AT&T next in April, but if I do that, I will lose my unlimited data.
Anybody have any good suggestion on what I should do?

Buy unlocked iPhone and put it on your current line?

If you don't have insurance or coverage from a third party, then you may be better off getting another phone used off Ebay or Cowboom.

How much data do you normally use?

Have you done a factory reset on the phone?

This. If you want an iPhone, simply buy one outright. If you can't afford it, get a shite-phone until you can or until you can renew your current contract and get the subsidized pricing. Don't get suckered into using AT&T Next just to finance it interest-free.

No, I'm thinking about doing this, but was trying to avoid the hassle.

I average 5MB with a peak of just under 8MB a few months back

I already have a shite phone... actually, the HTC One M8 is pretty decent. May just do the factory reset and see if that helps out. I'm not sure it will because I seem to always have issues with calls and group texts with iphones from any Android phone

Go to sprint and they will give you half off At and T , buy out your contract and they have an unlimited Data, Text and talk plan

I assume you mean GB.

Here are a few stop gap solutions:
Moto X 2014 Pure Edition
iPhone 5S
Nexus 5
Asus Zenfone 2
Or buy a Moto G.
Seriously, that Nexus 5 is a steal. Just got the newest version of Android, so you could probably squeak a year out of it easy. Especially if you bought a mint one.

An iphone 6 on ebay is right around $400, pre owned. Add a little more for the big one or more storage.

Switch to T-Mobile, they will buy out your contract.

(also, I hope you meant GB and not MB)

Because, in many cases, having one of the old plans is actually cheaper than the new mobile share plans. I use even less data than he does on average, and I'm still on unlimited because it's cheaper. It boggles my mind how many people get scammed into switching to a new plan without calculating 24-month costs (including phones).

Yes, I'm an idiot. I meant GB
