Sooooo Apple released the 2nd generation Airpods to no fanfare last night

Same price, unless you want a wireless charging case, then its 200.

I'm going to wait and see reviews on the new H1 chip, primarily the battery life. I've had my Airpods for ~18 mos and the batteries last about half of what they used to. It's about time I replace them with something and this seems like a perfect opportunity.

Are they noise canceling? If not mine are fine until they add that. That's really the only gripe I have about them except obviously could always use more battery life for talk time.

It's impossible to make a design like that noise canceling. You need way better isolation. It's hwy noise canceling headphones are almost all over/on the ear types. Only a very small few earbuds out there have noise canceling, and it only works on ones that basically plug your ear up. Airpods just loosely sit near your ear canal, there's basically no actual isolation.

Y'all are nuts paying that much for these things. Anything bluetooth like this the battery will fade. They hey siri thing is crap as you can just raise your phone.
To Brettasaurus, you will likely not get isolated as these look to be semi open back to allow more soundstage and be aware of your surroundings.
Spend your money how you like but I would just get some <$50 dollar ones on Amazon and wait till the battery dies then get some more.

For what exactly? No wires? (Tons of amazon alternatives), Sound quality? (Tons of options available that are likely 10x better)
Why are you listening to music in your earbuds from across the room from your phone? Why not listen to them on big speakers? If you are all like "cause other people are in the room" well guess what? you are annoying them now by saying "hey siri, let me listen to imagine dragons" oh shite not cajun dragons, imagine dragons didn't work "hey siri, LET ME LISTEN TO IMAGINE DRAGONS".

this makes me believe that Apple has something HUGE to announce (streaming TV service competition with Netflix) for their thing at the end of this month.
They want the full 2-3 hours to just go over that....I hope its worth it.

The connectivity is great with them. They connect and charge quickly. The case is great. The "go out of your way to shite on apple" people are worse than the apple fanboys.

Nah, the ones that blindly follow a product just cause it's a brand are the worst. I don't hate Apple and I think the Iphone is a good phone but just don't like the OS but to just choose because it's Apple is the problem.

Maybe not necessarily true noise cancelation like some have said, but if there's much of any noise around me I pretty much have to max them out.
Also, I get great battery just using them connected to ipad or Apple tv. I feel like the ATV connectivity is something especially alot of poeple don't think a bout. That's a lifesaver with a baby still in my room.

The AirPods work better with the iPhone than others do. That isn't up for debate. I don't follow it as a brand. I like how seamless they are with my iPhone and they do what I need them to do. I don't think an iPad or a MacBook are great in their respective classes, but the AirPods are awesome.
