I’ve always used apple care but wondering if there’s cheaper options out there. Any recommendations would be appreciated. TIA

Don’t get Apple care. Get a pack of glass screen protectors and a phone case.

You’ll be set

Just get the Asurion coverage through your carrier. $29 dollar screen repairs. Same day deliveries, for lost/stolen replacements etc.

I highly recommend against Asurion. The parts and repairs that I’ve seen them use, is just awful. And God forbid the remanufactured phone they send you has a problem, you have to go through phone tree he’ll to try and source a replacement. There is a reason that Asurion and others are cheaper than AppleCare, and that reason is certainly not mark up.

I have insured a iphone/macbookpro through homeowners insurance before and it was ridiculously cheap. Like $2 per month or something for both. Funny thing, I actually had to make a claim about a month later on the phone after dropping it in the toilet. That was a pretty seamless process as well and had a check for a new iphone in a couple days.

Did making a claim against that affect your homeowners rate? I’d be hesitant to go that route for just that reason.

You can protect 300k in homeowner insurance for like $80/month in Ohio but Verizon wants $15/month for sometimes a $200 phone when they become outdated

Actuaries have to see the humor in this.

Check to see if your credit card company offers protection. I have Navy Federal and if I pay my phone bill with that card I get free phone insurance.

My wife filed a claim 2 weeks ago with Verizon for a Note 10+ and they replaced it with the Note 20 Ultra 5G.

Wells Fargo has a card with free insurance up to $650 as long as you pay your bill with the card. $25 deductible. We’ve used it once. About to use it again. Very easy

I saw that on my wells fargo card. Its pretty good coverage for no premium and a small deductible. It doesn't cover lost, but does cover theft. The problem comes in that most flagship devices are trending towards 1200.00 dollars.

On the flip side I have paid the AT&T insurance and used it several times on glass and just flat out broken devices. So I’m ahead on my end.
