Currently working on the budget for next year's PC replenishment and PCs with almost identical specs (same form factor, processor [i5], same amount of RAM, same size storage) is up 64% per unit. Thanks to growth after the pandemic we have to replace more PCs as well, so we're talking an 80% increase in budget.

At least explaining why to the executive board will be easy.

My Asus Zenpad is like 50% more now so that tracks.

Which reminds me I randomly bought 32GB of DDR RAM for $100 years ago and need to sell it

I have a PC I bought in August of last year has these specs:

Intel Core Ultra 9 285
Nvidia RTX 5080
Nvme WD Blue SN5000 4TB
Crucial Crucial 32GB DDR5 RAM, 4800MH (x2)

Ran me $3000 after taxes

Similar items with the full 64GB of RAM, 5080 card, and Ultra 9 285 run over $5000 now, just a little over a year later.

Hell, I could probably sell what I have used and make a profit.

Working on our budget now. It's a mess. On top of hardware, all of our SaaS services have been increasing as well. Our age to replace is undoubtedly going to have to go up because there's no way I'm getting all this approved.

We're on a 5-year; I'd hate to see us start having to push to a 7-year.

We've got so many other big budget projects running on multiple-year stretches that we may have to do just that until they're done.
