I've had a Panasonic Plasma TV that I've had for about 8 years and still love it. I have recently moved and just need a bigger TV for the larger space. I've never done any research on the newer technology since I've always been happy with my current TV.

Curious if anyone had any experience with this particular TV, or if anyone had any other recommendations at this price point?

I went and looked at it in Best Buy and the picture looks fantastic but it's hard to tell in the store since they aren't playing regular programming.

Here is a link to the TV on amazon as well. LINK

I've brought in a laptop and connected via HDMI in the past to see how content that I know rendered on tvs FWIW... Alternatively, if it supports broadcasting from mobile, might be worth trying that... streaming something with lower resolution is generally worthwhile though IMO.

No personal knowledge on this TV though. I've never gotten a Samsung larger than 55" or so.

If you love plasma the only comparable current technology is OLED. I'd highly suggest looking at one OLED before deciding on traditional LCD panels.

I'm not sure the difference on QLED vs OLED, but I know the Plasma wouldn't really work in my new living room even if it was the right size. The entire living room wall is giant windows and the glare is crazy.

Tigerwise is a big fan of the Samsung QLED. Perhaps he'll chime in with his thoughts.

OLED does require a room with good light control so the Samsung may be the better option for your room.

Yeah I'm doing some reading now and it looks like with my room the QLED is the better option.

I'd think so too. They're very good TVs.

I bought the Costco version 82" Q65FN.

I've been reasonably pleased with it although I previously had a smaller OLED and definitely miss the OLED picture. I'm not sure it was worth paying more for the Q6 than the NU8000 at 82" though.

I took in own 4K FireTV and played 4K content from a USB stick.

Had one BB manager refuse to let me do it over his concern that it would constitute an unlicensed public performance. I just went to the next closest BB and did it there.

USB stick is another good idea. Thought on the fireTV was that you'd need to then get it setup for wifi, but dunno if those can store content locally?

I just looked this one up and I can't even see a difference and its $500 cheaper. Is there something lacking on this model that I'm overlooking?

Actually, now that I remember more clearly, it was my Shield TV that I took, not FireTV.

I think there are some silly features like ambient mode that you probably don't need on the Q6.

Just looked it up and Costco has the cheaper one for $2179.99 right now. I paid $3499 for my Q65FN last August.

Change the channel. All those TVs should be hooked up to an antenna.

Yeah I see the 82NU8000 on Amazon for $2,178 and free shipping. Can pay the extra $100 and they'll even hang it on the wall for you.

Ouch. I paid dealer pricing for my LG65C8 in August. Amazing picture.

NU8100 isn't a quantum dot panel. I think it also had less quality motion handling and local dimming.

Not much difference between the NU and the Q6. Ambient mode and brightness are the only things that come to mind. The 2019 models are already out there so you better jump on the 2018 unprotected pricing while there is still stock.

I bought a 75inch Sony X900f last month after doing 2-3 months of research and reading. That thing is awesome.

Sony also has quantum dot tech. They call theirs Triluminos Display.

Yeah after some additional reading it does seem like it would probably be worth it for $500.
