bumping this back up.

Just got a new laptop that has a sim slot on it. I travel relatively frequently and hate using my phone to tether. I assume this would work really well for $30/month?

has anyone tried the verizon version of this?
i set my 2 in-laws up with this. one is ATT one is verizon. I beleive the Verizon sim is a sim owned by some "company" in cali that he pays his 30 or so bucks a month two and they lend him their unlimited sim. so far both work great.

Join this group and get a Verizon jetpack unlimited hotspot for like $50 per month. Best I've found.

I'm grandfathered into unlimited data with ATT on a couple of hotspots (we don't offer those anymore), but the Verizon deal appears to be the best deal I can find.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was curious if the grandfathered AT&T hotspot setup was still working well for everyone. I'm thinking about setting this up at my parents'. I'd appreciate any updates or advice you could share.

Still as good or better than my cable previously.

Is there a specific type of iPad IMEI that I should use? Like, does it need to be AT&T specific? I found IMEI's for an iPad Pro, iPad 3, and iPad 4. They all claim to be 4G LTE compatible. Would any of those three work?

Does anyone have a good eBay/sim source for the Verizon equivalent? Or is there a portal link for Verizon somewhere? AT&T signal is almost non-existent in my area, curious if there would be a comparable option for Verizon using the iPad trick?

You don’t need eBay for the att stuff, Jesus. Go buy the router (it comes with a sim). Go to the web site and sign up for service. When it asks you for an IMEI number just give it one from an iPad that has LTE. Use the SIM card number printed on the SIM card. It will be located in the bottom of the nighthawk router. You can even reuse the same IMEI more then once. I have setup like 6 of these over the last few months. It literally takes 5 minutes. Don’t waste your money on eBay.

LINK
Link is to You tube explaining the discontinued data connect pass service.

I'm currently using the data connect pass myself. Seems like it is being discontinued and some accounts terminated until further notice. Oh well, I'll keep using mine until they shut it off. Works decently even with not so great cell service. I usually get up to 11meg, sometimes worse. But for where I live, I'll take it.

I recently ran across your post from a year ago and would like to communicate with you about the details. I am moving to a rural location where this would work perfectly. The links in your posts must have expired because I can't see anything when I click on them. The eBay one just shows a page filled with SIM cards.

I know this is a year old, but I would like to duplicate the setup. How can I get to the "eBay guy"?

Did you read the thread before bumping it 3 times in an hour? Better yet, did you read just the last page? It has the link to "the ebay guy", send him a message, it also has a link to a youtube video from Feb of this year that states the ATT deal is dead.
