Something for everyone - inexpensive boxes, 1080p / 4K sticks and the Ultra with 4K, ethernet and all the bells and whistles.

It would help if companies put more work into their Roku apps. Roku feels so sluggish and old.

I bought a Roku Ultra about a month ago and it's faster than my Apple TV (4)

This seems to be the consensus from all of my friends who have done the same. Roku is awesome because it does EVERYTHING, literally everything. Really no other streaming device does, I guess it doesn't do Kodi? But I use Plex so I have never noticed. Plus it's actually a good bit more responsive than the completion.

I still use my Chromecast 90% of the time because of TV control from my watch - but I love my Roku and will probably be upgrading to the ultra soon

Ultra is badass with the 4k. Not sure there is a more complete streamer.

I also use the headphones almost every night.

My setup is:
Tablo
Roku Ultra (Apple TV is now in bedroom)
DirectvNow with HBO

Can roku do anything a firetv stick can’t? I just bought a TCL Roku TV off amazon. Great TV but so far I like the firesticks better.

Roku has more streaming apps than anything out there. Amazon products are very good they just push prime content. I use an amazon video app to get to the content which basically the same interface.

Firetv can get Kodi, other than that, roku is much better. Everything about the roku is simple and easy to use, and pretty much every app in existence is supported by it. I've had a Firetv for two years and it still takes me a minute to figure out how to search for a damn app.
You can search a show or movie on the roku and it will tell you every app it exists on and if it's free or cost money to rent.

I like my Roku Ultra so much that I can't stand using the Amazon Firestick.

The Roku Ultra is great. Very responsive and easy to navigate.

I use the headphone jack in the remote control to watch Sons of Anarchy every night. My wife doesn't like listening to all of the killings.

Same. I have to restart the box almost everytime I try to wake it up. It absolutely refuses to just wake from sleep with the press of a button.

I think it would benefit them greatly if they moved to a programming language that was more common.

How do I go about setting Plex up to watch everything I want to? Basically, how do I get it setup like Kodi.

I’ve been loyal to roku for years, ever since the roku 3. Bought an amazon fire stick a year ago to try it out, used it once, and then never again.

The roku interface and app selection is just so much better.

For the record, I don’t do kodi so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

people that use Kodi can always use the unofficial apps for Plex if they do a little bit of research... so it's not exactly a 0 sum game.
