Because glassbreak detectors suck. If somebody breaks in through a window they will open it. Window switches are much more reliable.
I guess it depends on your window, mine are not easy to open from the outside at all, be easier to smash the window and just crawl through it. It would never get opened.
Glass break would be my choice, that will come since they are already incorporating other companies zwave devices.

Sent a question to the customer service guy I always talk to at Ring, it will be out later. The First Alert smoke/CO alarm is the first outside Ring company zwave device they want to release. Amazon will probably help them a ton to partner up with other zwave devices.

Would there be an advantage over standard systems as it relates to home automation?

Theoretically, if they integrate with HA hubs, you could use their sensors for automation routines. Its possible to do this with standard alarms, but a lot harder

I know they have planned HomeKit integration, with Amazon on board I could see them adding some skills to Alexa.

If I have zwave sensors with my current company wouldn't those work with this system? I've never switched alarm companies but I figured they took the console and were done with it.

I highly doubt you have Zwave sensors in your house for the alarm

Without a doubt. Amazon being involved makes this a yuge game changer for residential security.

They have to be allowed by Ring, so probably not

Also, I see that their first alert smoke/ carbon monoxide monitors are sold out. Will any first alert wave unit work?

My order shipped yesterday, so will get to test thing out soon and hopefully lose an almost $40 bill a month.

The reviews seem mostly positive with most of the qualms around the app / things that can be improved in the future - one from The Verge
My question is what kind of z-wave device integration will this system support? It looks like it’s z-wave protocol (extender) but none of the reviews really test adding 3rd party items.

My buddy is a beta tester and has one. Said it feels like a cheap toy and the contacts are yuge.

I can't stand glass break in my house. It could be the position of it but I can't bang my dishes too loud or turn my music/movies up too loud without it going off.

I’m not seeing the need for them honestly. If I have ring cameras that send me notifications what do I need the security system for?
I can sound the alarm and call the cops when I get a notification and see someone who isn’t supposed to be there.

My question is: Are people going to take it off the wall to charge? Are you leaving it off the wall and plugged in? Are you plugging it in while mounted on the wall?
