My house was not wired for doorbells, so I've had 3 battery powered Rings for a couple years.

Running wires at this point will be an enormous pain in my arse, it will probably take me at least a full day to do it and will require a lot of swearing. But my experience with these doorbells has made me decide to go through with it. It's just that bad. The recordings never start or stop at the right time (recording length is adjustable but fixed it seems), live view only loads up maybe 1/3rd of the time, I get multiple back-to-back-to-back notifications of the same event all the time. Ring support is no help, they send me through the same very basic troubleshooting steps all the time.

Anyway, I hope you have wired doorbells, and I've heard good things about Eufy.

Pay someone who enjoys money and is indifferent to pain in their arse to run your wires. Or if you are the frugal type, get into the attic ASAP. We are already on the border of "don't do shite in the attic" time of year.

The only thing I have is don’t get the first gen for 99.99. It’s useless. By the time you get the alert the person is already gone

House came with a Ring 2. I’ve been pleased with it. Mobile app is nice.

Well frick me, my house does already have wires run!

When we bought the house, it had battery powered buzzers and chime box so I didn't give it much thought, just went with the quick and easy battery powered Rings. This thread prompted me to take a closer look to see how involved the job would be, and I found the transformer and wires! So then I checked the doors and could faintly make out where the holes were repaired. I feel like I just found a twenty in my coat pocket.

I’ve got the ring pro (wired). The electrician charged me $180 to install but that also included installing a second regular doorbell, replacing the transformer, and replacing a new chime

It was well worth it. I bought my ring pro through crutchfield for $150 (refurbished). I don’t pay for cloud storage. I’ve been really happy with the purchase

I think I laughed, because it sounds just like something that would happen to me. Don't tell my wife, but I broke off the ends of the bell wire when I put in our ring and mangled the stucco behind it to get them to connect. With the ring screwed to the wall, you can't tell. But take it off and...

Been extremely happy with my Ring. It's hardwired and motion alrerts work perfectly. I can feel my phone vibrate in my pocket every morning when I step out the door for work.

I have the first gen. It’s useless. By the time you get an alert nobody is there anymore. I heard they improved with their later models

I have the wired Ring 2. I love it. HOWEVER, after wasting a good part of a day, I learned that the Ring does not work with the newer programmable chime doorbells. It would only work with the old manual-type doorbell.

Finding usable cable where you knew there wasn't any is always a good day!
