I have two Plex servers. They both have the same content.
One is a desktop computer with an external hard drive as the storage device of all the shows/movies, the other is a Shield with a Synology NAS. All are hardwired to my router, well the external HD is simply plugged into the desktop, but the other 3 are hardwired).

Just recently, I can't seem to stream anything from the desktop server on my main TCL RokuTV. I start the show or movie, then it stops after about a minute or two, the 33% spins for some time, then it might get to 42%, and it might start the show/movie back on, but it'll stop a few seconds later and eventually say it can't play the show/movie.
On that same TCL RokuTV, I can switch over to the same exact show or movie on the Shield server, and it will work just fine.
I can also go to two different RokuTV's in the house, and use the desktop server and/or the Shield server and it work just fine. My AndroidTV is able to stream both servers without any issue as well.
All of the RokuTV's are wireless.

I seem to have run into this issue before about a year or so ago, and i did a cache clear on the Roku and it fixed the issue, but i've done that and it hasn't helped any bit.

What could possibly be the cause of this issue? I've checked to make sure everything is up to date, the servers, the Sheild, the NAS, the Roku's, the router. I don't know what else it could be at this point.

Is all your content encoded the same way (H.264 MKV, etc.?) That's the only thing that comes to mind. I've struggled with the forever-in-beta Plex app on my Synology NASs, but Plex server on my desktop has never failed that I can remember.

How old are the Rokus? I know some are going out of support, and an IDK was disabled two weeks ago. That might have an impact on the Plex app on the Roku to function properly when streaming from particular devices.

no, but that's never been an issue before. and the same exact show works on one roku but not the other.

the roku tv is maybe 3 years old, which is what isn't working. I have the roku speaker that's about the same age, and working. I have a old roku that came free when Slingtv first came out, that's like 8 years old, and it works on there.

i got nothing except:

- compare the plex client version on that roku with the other rokus in your house
- check the video/quality settings on that plex client & compare to others. sometimes one little checkbox might be the difference in something working in one place and not another

do the same thing w/ the plex server app on the shield and PC particularly where it pertains to serving/quality/transcoding options.

finally, are subtitles on? my samsung tv will sometimes fail to render certain plex media if its trying to burn subtitles because sammy apps are pieces of shite. serving it through the roku isolates that issue.

is the video atmos or HDR or something that is tricky to render on that TV and maybe one plex server is transcoding the movie and the other isnt?

it would be helpful if you could post the video encoding settings and client video settings for a video that is failing.

Maybe a problem with one of the hard drives ? I only mention it because of you mention: the 33% spins for some time, then it might get to 42%. Just a thought.

Out of pure curiosity, what is the purpose for running 2 plex instances with the same content?

No real reason to have two. I just do b/c i had no other use for the Shield and NAS that was given to me.

The shield and NAS piss me off though b/c i am constantly having to remount the files.

Do you happen to run a VPN on the same machine that Plex is giving you issues?

I sometimes forget to turn mine off before I start streaming and I get all sorts of random issues before I remember to go toggle it off.
