DTVN and other streaming TV services keep going up in pricing and regardless you need internet.
Cox has been sending me offers and I took the last one
250 channels and DVR including hbo, Cinemax , showtime and stars and 300mb with their Wi-Fi modem at no rental for $140 a month locked in at that price for 2 years.
No idea where we will be in 2 years but like always, I can drop them and do something else, especially since fiber is an option. I have 1gb fiber now but I have been monitoring the bandwidth and we don’t nearly take advantage of the 1gb. Mostly outbound utilization is what I monitor

Damn...you can't beat that deal

Did you look at Hulu? $45/mo that includes all sports needed. I’ll be switching to it once my Directv promotion is up in November. Even with the cancellation fee, I will still save almost $600 in the year.

You might want to check the fine print. All of their published plans list a set price for the first 12 months of a 24 month agreement. You could very easily end up paying an extra $75-100 per month for the second year.

Yeah I am aware of all that and when I was going through pricing with their rep, I said I want final, monthly invoice price ...deal started at $109 before taxes and fees. Its 2 years, not 1 year with a 2 year commitment.
Between $90 for current internet and $55 for DTVN i’d rather reattach the cord.

I’ve been telling people for 2 years now we would come full circle eventually because the Cox’s of the world aren’t going away. They’d figure out how to compete price wise. The streaming services keep raising prices and more keep popping up. By the time you pay for the internet necessary to run all of that shite you’re right back to where you started. Sometimes you end up paying more.
Think about if you like all of the original programming. You’d have Netflix, Hulu and Prime subscriptions. Now YouTube is in the game. Then a few premiums like HBO, ESPN and whatever else you’re into. You’re right back to pushing $200 a month.

If anything the streaming services have kept cable in check and forced to offer something like the package I signed up for. When I left cox cable tv before they did not try to keep me.

I have them all. its not that bad. prime is really judt a bonus on top of other benefits.
hulu I probably will reduce programming on this year though to save 45 bucks a month during offseason

I just can't imagine paying that much for cable.

Think it break down like this.
250 channels, DVR box and service with HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and Stars $70
300mb internet with Wi-Fi modem for $70
$140 is post tax, services fees.
Reason why I say that is I called them yesterday and asked for a credit with overlapping internet services and he gave me a $68 credit on the first months bill.
Was paying , well still, $55 for DTVN and $90 for internet.
Last round w/ Cox was $90 for internet and $110 for tv /w HBO
Internet does not go away for anyone unless they just do OTA so it boils down to what you are willing to pay for TV without factoring any “bundle” like what I am signing up for.
That said I am going to head to the Cox retail location tomorrow to try and do a self install. We will see what happens.

I get why people will pay it for convenience. I just couldn't live with myself. I cant resist the prices of IPTV and sticking it to the cable company. Theyll get me for internet, but I'm only going to pay about $10/month for my service and that comes with a whole hell of a lot more than the cable people can offer. I just enjoy piracy though.

You'd better check your first couple months bills. My guess is you'll end up paying about $160-170 for the first year, then more after that.

So they contractually lock you into 2 years but don’t keep the contract price.

I'll just be waiting anxiously for you to report your first month's bill.

I have never had a problem with Cox and them being shady about prices. They never raised the rates.
Posted on 5/19/19 at 5:22 pm to Korkstand
I’m not a dummy and not signing a contract that does not specify the rates for the length of the contract.
We will see, I plan to go over to the retail location tomorrow morning.
