How would a Marantz SR6015 compare to the Denon? I know it's $500 more, but is it worth the extra money?
I’ve owned both
I’d buy the Denon unless you are an audio nerd who loves to listen to 2 channel stereo. They are the same company with two different sound engineers. The Denon will be better suited, especially considering price, for listening to surround sound. The Marantz could sound better to you listing yo music 2 channel stereo.

This. Stick with the Denon for your purposes.

Just posting to give more support for your hopeful Denon purchase.
Over the last 25 years, I've owned the Denon AVR-3311, AVR-4311CI, and now the AVR-X6300H in a 9.2 set up.
You will not be disappointed with the Denon in terms of features and sound quality, esp with the Audyssey XT32 room calibration set-up.
Control freaks like us have a hard time letting go of separate treble and bass control knobs, or a separate EQ with all of the slider controls, but Audyssey does the best job of all.
Give it to God. Get the Denon.

I’ve got the denon AVR-X1700H and it has been great

So the consensus seems to be that I would get a pretty big upgrade by switching from the Yamaha I already have to the Denon 3700?
Audyssey MultEQ® XT32 over the YPAO from the Yamaha. And our course upgrade from a 1080p receiver in the yamaha to a HDMI 2.1 4K/120Hz receiver. And the 9-channel atmos on top of that.

Unless you're looking at a Made in Japan model (SU) stay away.

I got everything hooked up and am really liking things so far. My only complaint/issue I am having is sometimes in tv shows they will talk low. I turn it up to here this, but then an action scene comes up and everything is too loud. Is there any setting to overall even everything out? This is after Audessy calibration.

Yes, there is. Not sure what it is off the top of my head but you can find the electronic owner's manual on the Denon website and search it for volume functions. Usually you would look for volume leveling, audio compression, dynamic audio, dynamic volume, night viewing, etc.
If not there, your streaming device might also have a dynamic volume limiting setting.

Just found the setting in my X3500H, it is called Dynamic Volume
Settings->audio->audyssey-> dynamic volume
