I'm looking for suggestions for PM Software Solutions. This is more Construction Management. We're looking for something that provides deadline management and file-storage solutions as well.

Any suggestions?

If its not for overly complicated project, Smartsheet is a good option. Its web based so it can be accessed from any computer that has internet. You can set reminders and notifications for different criteria and store all files on a particular row. It operates a lot like Excel.

MS Project I used for a while, but I keep reverting back to my old school ways of Outlook calendar dates, post-it notes, and two whiteboards (Three marker colors).

How big of an outfit are we talking about.

We use Spectrum by Dexter & Chaney, but they were just bought out by Vista who has Viewpoint.

Both of those solutions are pretty good for large scaled construction/project management and can handle financials, HR, AP, AR, etc. The price won't be for the faint at heart though

We've used Smartsheet for a couple of years and that should work for simple needs.

I've been helping one of our groups transition to Wrike, which I think is good, but it might be too much for what you need.

We use Asana. I work for an engineering firm, so I imagine its applications could translate to construction management.

Good for assigning/following tasks, adding notes, collaborating, and tracking progress. You can set up a template that you copy and paste into every new project and then customize from there...that's what we do anyway. I know you can upload and share files. Not sure if there are size limitations to that.

eta - if you are looking for a true PM tool that includes financial/budgeting tools, then this is not what you are looking for. Asana is really meant for organizing projects for managers/supervisors and their teams.

primavera

Is overkill for small construction.

A few questions.

1. How many activities are in a typical schedule?
2. Will there be multiple users accessing a schedule, at the same time?
3. Are you exchanging data with other tools (Accounting, etc.)?
