In the market for a new TV and I'm looking to enter the world of 4k. Please recommend a brand and model for me. My budget is around $700-$750. Would like a good refresh rate to cut down on motion blur from watching sports. Thanks in advance

What size? 55" is popular and within that range for a Samsung or LG. Love my Samsung but I wish I had gotten a 60 instead.

Sorry I should have specified.....yes 55" is what we currently have and that size works fine for us.

Best Buy on Black Friday, this is a damn good deal:
This 65" will be $750
I have the Samsung 65" curved version and, once set properly, the TV is spectacular. I bought it online last year during the Black Friday sale. Never had to fight a crowd. Showed up with order number, they sent me around to the back door and brought it out.

I thought about that one and I am still considering it. Which of these would you chaps recommend? All have HDR except the Sony. Is HDR worth having? All are priced at around $700 with exception of the Sony which is $750.

Best Buy 55" Vizio
Best Buy 55" LG
Best Buy Sony 55"

I’m going to be purchasing a tv for Black Friday, but I’m torn on size.. seems like 55” is the most popular/common... I’m going to be seated 15 feet from the tv, should I go with a 55, 60, or bigger?
I know there are charts, but I’d prefer opinions from actual people

They say SDR:HDR::SD:HD. Then on top of that, you want the Dobly Vision HDR which the Vizio, LG, and TCL have.

I currently have a 50" in my living room and sit about 15 ft away. It's plenty big enough, but bigger is better.

Vizio RTINGS SCORE
I'm leaning towards the Vizio. Supposedly it has a 120 hz refresh rate which should be good for action and motion. Also the HDR and Dolby vision and the built in Chromecast this tv seems like a good value.

I agree the TCL 55P607 55-Inch 4K is a steal under $700.

How do sports look on it? I've been looking at this one but I'm scared of the dirty screen effect.

That's what I'm wondering about the TCl also. How does it handle motion with a 60 hz panel. That's why I'm leaning towards the Vizio and the 120 hz.

The reviewers in the link I posted said they couldn't tell a difference between the TCL @ 60 Hz and other Tvs @ 120 Hz. It does 120 Hz Clear Motion Index, which I assume is their way of saying that it makes the 60 Hz panel appear to be 120 Hz via software. I don't have the TV up and running so I can't share a personal experience (not that it would be worth a shite. Who buys a TV and tells the internet “I’ve made a huge mistake”), but the professionals are saying that it does a good enough job to not matter.
quote:
Previously we recommended a 120 Hz refresh rate in our Best TV, but we didn’t make it a requirement this time because in side-by-side tests no one in our panel could see the difference
quote:
The panel inside the 55P607 only has a 60 Hz refresh rate, so motion isn’t as fluid as it can be on a 120 Hz panel. Even if you don’t like motion interpolation (also known as the soap opera effect), 120 Hz panels look better due to faster pixel refresh and less motion blur. The TCL panel does run at 48 Hz with 24 Hz film content, so it does not suffer from judder, which is a large improvement over previous 60 Hz panels. While we would prefer a 120 Hz panel, we wouldn’t pay the extra money for it, and none of the members of our viewing panel noticed a difference in motion quality.

Thanks, I'm thinking about getting this TV while waiting for OLED prices to come down a bit. I'm gonna go to best buy and see it in person first.

We got the 605 for $650 from Best Buy last Fall and it has been a great TV so far. Don't need the advanced remote features and the Geek Squad picked up the old TV for recycling.

Vizio 55" 4k - $599
I picked this one up yesterday.....it just happened to go on sale for $599 so I bought it over the TCL which I was also looking at. I couldn't be happier with the picture quality. I watched a basketball game last night on it and there was no motion blur. Excited to watch GOTG vol. 2 tonight on it to see how it looks!
