Pixel 5 vs the newest iPhone

Is it a safe leap to Google Pixel to iPhone besides ruining my "eco system"? iPhones are great but so is Android. Popularity does not bother me.

The pixel 5 was not a great phone. It was mid-tier at best. The Pixel 6 is coming out soon and Google plans for it to compete with other flagship phones, which the Pixel 5 was not intended to do. I've been on Samsung for quite awhile and the Pixel 6 is the first Google phone I've ever been excited about.

Got the 5a this week. Nice phone but I'm coming from Android 8

Which phone are you currently using? What's your budget for a new phone?
Is there something about your current phone that bothers you?

iPhone 11. My budget is Android. Nothing is more expensive than a iPhone.

It really comes down to what you want out of a smartphone. If you just want to send texts, browse some web pages, and use a handful of apps for banking, shopping, etc, then you don't need to upgrade at all.
If you're unhappy with Apple's business practices, then by all means, change platforms. But cost isn't really a good reason IMO. There are reasonably priced iphones as well as top-tier priced phones.
Same is true for Androids. There are a lot of cheap stuff as well as some super premium phones. I'd also remind people that Android/Google has its share of questionable business practices.
IMO, stick with what you have. That's the best price/performance ratio; considering that the iphone 11 is still a competent device.

Makes sense. I like my iPhone but when my contract is up I'm looking for a different phone.

What are peoples views on the pixel 4a vs iphone se.
My phone has crapped out on me, both of these are around the same price and im looking for a smaller phone.
I had been using a moto z for what seems like forever. I dont want to go over the $400 mark and dont want to go above a 6 in screen.
price point puts the 12 mini out.

My Fold 2 and Fold 3 say hi.

IMO, the 4a is a better phone for you, but I'd keep my eye out for a deal on a 5a.
Sorry, I noticed you were wanting a < 6" display. In that case the 5a is a bit big.

It really is all about which ecosystem you prefer.
I have had both and I like keeping everything Apple but if you like Android then that's great, too.
The ads I got on all devices while owning an android phone were creepy AF, though.
Apple is a user-centric product with great security, where you are the customer instead of the product but that's starting to change. They're still doing great things that piss Facebook off but then they do stuff like scan for potential child porn that seems a bit odd. Apple needs a Steve Jobs or an Elon Musk running the company.

With much hesitation and sadness I had to switch recently from a decade+ of Android phones to the iphone12. I used to shite on iPhone so bad but I have to say it’s a fantastic phone. I’m very happy with it now. Now I can send gifs and not always be the guy that screws up the group texts.
The iPhone 12 is truly a workhorse.
