It only trips it in the afternoon. Had to reset it about four times yesterday and once today already.
Weak breaker or something more serious?

Edit:
Come to find out the fins were extremely plugged. My neighbor’s dog lays right, about 25 ft from my unit. I haven’t clean the tower in about 3-4 years.
Holy shite, what a difference!!!

No.
It’s a large unit, 30 amp 220 breaker

Could be a weak breaker.
Could be something wrong with the unit itself causing it to draw more current.

Amp meter would be needed to figure out which is true.

It only trips in the afternoon. The box is right there, in direct sun light I don’t think the box is getting so hot, along with higher than normal amps, is causing it to trip

Ever had the start capacitor replaced?

A 2 pole 30 is like 12$, try that first, just get the same type.

Yeah, try a new breaker first or have HVAC tech check out the unit.

Not every unit has a start capacitor.

Bad capacitor. Changed mine in an hour and that was going to Florida Blvd to wait in line to buy a new one.

Contactor or the start/run capacitor probably the cheaper more likely issues

Happened to me about a year into living in a new construction. Replaced the breaker and have not had a problem since.

Same situation. Trips in the afternoon when the unit was running more than usual.

Ah, the way I read it, I was thinking something like a window unit.

Holy shite, it fins were plugged. I would say 80% blocked, with dog hair from my neighbors dog.
It took me two hours to clean the thing.

That must be one hairy dog.

It’s a lab mix (Rhodesian Ridgeback I think). It’s short haired, but sheds like crazy.
