Yes, but the amp section is supposedly better.

I looked at Marantz before I bought my Yamaha.
For me, the Yamaha was the best bang for my buck.

The Onkyo issue has been fixed, however the new models just hit the shelves. Waiting to see what issues I get with these.

I went with the new Onkyo 636
I'll let y'all know how it does.

I bought the ONKYO TX-NR609 3 years ago. It has 5 HDMI ports on the back, and 1 on the front.
I had 1 issue with it, and it was because one of my speaker cables had a break in it, and was causing the unit to shut down if I turned it up to loud. It told me which speaker was having the issue, and once I reran the speaker cable, I haven't had any issues.
It's easy to setup, and calibrate the speakers. I have a 7.2 setup and it sounds great.
This is my second Onkyo, and the only reason I upgraded was because I wanted HDMI switching. I still use the old onkyo in the other room.

I'd check for a firmware update as soon as you open it.

I have had Denon,Onkyo and HK. Only one I ever had any issue with was the Onkyo. HK didn't have HDMI and I replaced it with my Denon.

I have the Denon AVR E300 5.1 in my media room and it rocks ballz. it was so intiuitive and easy to set up... nice configurability and does everything I need. nice price at under 4hundo (not including speakers)

I don't know how they are now but when the denon avr xx13 was available, they were the best value in performance. Onkyo was better for features.

all are good but if you are a moderate user I would say
Onkyo number 1 by far
Yamaha
Denon is great, but most complicated
HK

Whatever op decides, go to accessories 4 less to get refurb. They are authorized dealers.

What kind of Paradigm fronts? All of these brands seem a bit cheap for a solid set of their Studio series. You need cleaner/better amplification, not more random features. Your amp should cost as much as your speakers, not counting for the DAC.

Paradigm monitor 5's.
Not their high end.
