Mc I'm on hub 2 and using go control motion detectors. I timed it out today 5 second lag to turn on and 4 minute lag to turn off.

The 4 minute lag is a battery saving "feature". It doesn't check for motion again until 4 minutes.
test jumper
You can try this, but I didn't have any luck on the one I tried

Where does one get a jumper?

It should have come in the packaging with the command strips I believe. The little black square.

Without going through 70 pages...
Getting an ecobee3 next week and have considered dipping my toes into the home automation stuff as well. If one were just starting out is the wink hub or samsung smarthings the way to go? Which one is more future proof?

I'm in the same boat and went with the wink hub 2.
This thread is very cumbersome for those of us just getting started.

Agreed. Some cliffs of best buys and best products would be helpful, especially with so many new products out.
But the ones in the know are very helpful, just i hate to ask about every little thing.

If you have a Facebook account, join the Wink users group.

Hey guys,
Looking for a little help/advice. I have a few wemo devices, but am fairly new to the smart home game. I'm finally looking to take the plunge and get a hub since I have a few use cases lined up for things to automate.
Questions:
1) When you get a smart outlet...Are the two outlets controlled independently or together? Or does it depend on the unit you buy? I have some lamps I'd like to automate and would rather buy smart outlets than bulbs, but I don't want the other stuff plugged into the outlet to turn on/off with the lamp control. Make sense? What's my best option in this case?
2) Related to my lamp question...Whoever decided where to put light switches in my house was either A) an a-hole and purposely put them in terrible locations; or B) a moron. Regardless, I'm looking to control my outlets from question 1 above with a battery operated toggle switch that I can mount on a wall without running wires.
LINK
This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't really want to go with the Lowe's system. I plan to buy either a wink hub or a ST hub (don't shoot me). Do any of you guys have a solution to this problem? I haven't been able to find another switch like this that advertises it's wink/ST compatible.

whats the best smart doorknob? I want to put one on my business that I can give someone a temp code to open up the door if they need to get in after hours.

Anyone here try switchmate light switch controls? I'm tired of waiting for a dual fan/dimmer and now that wink is gaining compatibility this seems like a decent option. Anyone tried them out?

Schlage Camelot. Can have 100+ codes.

For a battery powered switch, look into Lutron Caseta and the Pico remote. Instead of changing the outlet, it would just plug into one.

Schlage Connect. Camelot is one of the styles (the best style)
Century is the other style and is on sale for $125 until tomorrow from Home Depot

Can anyone recommend a way to make a device do something after being on for a set period of time. For example I just recently installed a garage door opener, my first one. About one out of every 4 times I leave I forget to close it. I want a robot that says if the garage door opener has been open for longer than 5 minutes, close the garage door. I already have a notification set up to tell me when this happens but as of now I have to manually close it. Not terrible but i'm usually already on the interstate by the time I get the notification.Any suggestions.

Another useful example of geofencing

It would but unfortunately the Chamberlain Garage Door cannot be used in Geo-fenced robots. No clue why seems like one of the most basic uses.
