Odd request- convo I had with my dad in the hospital

When my dad was in the hospital and was told that the cancer was going to win we had a convo that I recorded on my iPhone. He didn’t know I was recording as it was in my pocket so video is irrelevant. My question is about some noise in the video from one of the machines he was hooked up to. It makes it hard to hear what he is telling me. Recording is less than 2 minutes. If I email or text the video to someone is it possible to drown out the machine noise and just hear the convo between my dad and I? Thanks

First off neck, I'm sorry to hear this buddy.
Second, if no one here can help you, reach out to a local TV or radio station. They have audio editing software that can clean up just about anything. Just throwing that out there.
eta: I've used Audacity in the past to edit some old home videos and it takes some tinkering but I'm pretty sure it can do what you're asking for here. Just make sure you save multiple copies of the recording to make sure you don't lost it.

Try GarageBand. It’s a free apple app. Noise Gating
Hope this helps. Hope your dad gets well.

the audio is actually from November but my dad passed away this morning so that’s what prompted me to want to clear up the audio. When I get back home next week I’ll see what I can do with the link you posted. I emailed the video to myself as soon as I took it in case I lost my phone

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you and your family are dealing with this as well as can be expected.

I hope someone here (or elsewhere) can help you with that audio. My only recommendation is saving that file in many many locations just in case.

I’ve got nothing to add from a tech standpoint, but sorry to hear about your pops. It’s cool that you’ll have this little reminder of him.

there does exist software for recording studios (professional and home studios) that are made specifically to clean up a recording and remove unwanted artifacts.
Perhaps post on the music board and someone with a studio may be able to help you, unless you know anybody with a studio that might have the software.
It is specialized software so unless they are into dialog or restoration, they may not have the package.

I've seen similar requests made on Reddit for audio and pictures. If you ask on the right subreddit, I'm sure someone will help you out.
Maybe try the Audio Engineering Subreddit
A similar request was made here: background noise removal

Man this hits home. Dad's been gone for 10 years (2/23/09) and I missed the sound of his voice badly....but I knew I had videoed some stuff with him and my niece...so I played it one day just to hear him.
Sorry for your lost man. If I could help I'd love to but I don't have that kind of expertise. The other thing to do is see if any colleges in their Mass Comm Dept could help you. Shouldn't be too hard to isolate a frequency and remove it (as long as it's not close to his voice frequency).

LINK
Here's an article that tells you how to use Audacity (free download) to remove background noise from a recording.
Ive used it to trim audio files to use as ring tones in the past.
First make sure you copy the original to a thumb drive and put it somewhere safe. That way if something goes wrong with what you are editing or your computer you always have a reliable backup.
