Note7 Shipped.

My Note7 shipped and is arriving tomorrow. This is my first Note device since the Note 3. I'm currently using the Nexus 6P and the S7edge.
The Note7 has the same hardware as the 7edge so I won't be blown away, but I am going to actually give the S Pen a serious try. I usually get Nexus devices in the fall, but I hate HTC and I'm probably going to pass this year. I have been running nougat on the 6P and I am satisfied for now.

going from an S4 to a 6P, I can't see myself going back to samsung.
but I guess that doesn't belong here so I dunno why I posted it.

They have made the best Nexus devices to date.

Congratulations. Let's see if the phone can last two months without acting like it has tech AIDS

I got the 7 edge in March and it's been by far the best phone ever crafted. I expect the Note 7 to at least be on par. Probably better from a software standpoint and maybe not as good on battery life. The 7 edge had GOAT battery life for a device with a QHD panel. I'll sell the 7 edge and this 256GB SD card and almost break even on the Note 7.

My Note 7 shipped too, but its getting shipped to a store in Portland so I could avoid the $100 in sales tax. Won't be able to get it until Saturday.

Serious question(s): is this a criticism of Samsung or Android? And is it a new issue/trend?
For context, I got the Note 3 when it first came out in 2013 (I had 2... maybe 3 blackberry units over the decade leading up to my switch to the Note). So I don't have a ton of experience with a ton of handsets from various makers.
My Note still works fine, except the battery (the original battery) is going on it and it has an odd glitch or freezes maybe once a week. Really, nothing to complain about, though it now feels like time to change, and the new Note is my first choice... so curious as to the nature of your criticism if you don't mind elaborating. TIA.

The Note 3 was a great phone. Samsungs are bloated with useless duplicate apps and anyone that had an S4 or S5 16 gb device probably had an terrible experience with samsung.
Samsung 16gb phones only come with about 8gbs available to user because of the bloat. They fill up fast and then don't perform well. The Note 7 has 64 gb internal and 4GBs of RAM paired with the snapdragon 820 which was Qualcom's bounce back chip after the debacle 810.
Samsungs have unmatched hardware and as long as you don't get a 16gb phone they will perform well for years.

Thanks for the response. Makes sense. My note 3 is 32GB, which is just barely good enough. I'm not even a power user and don't store a ton of media files, but couldn't imagine squeezing into a 16GB phone.

It things like this that worry me.
I'm almost positive I'm gonna make the switch from a IPhone 6 Plus to a Note7.
But I know what I'm getting out of iPhones and I don't know what I'm getting out of a Samsung.

IPhones are not bad phones, they are a safe choice and that's why a lot of people stick with them. There are a lot of phones that are better though.
I can strongly recommend the Nexus 6p or the the Galaxy S7 edge.

Is it worth it to get the 6p knowing that the next generation of Nexus is around the corner. I broke the screen on my 5x. It's still usable but aggravating as hell.

My issue isn't with Android, but Samsung. Their phones are shite.

I still use the 6p as my daily driver even though the S7 edge has better hardware in every way outside of fingerprint accuracy.
I just love stock android and how integrated all of Googles apps are. It just a better user experience.
The 6p especially now that it's 150 off is the best value phone possibly ever. I doubt the new premium HTC nexus will come in at the same price point Huawei was able to get down to.
If you are a person that keeps phones for a long time then get the 6p. I will say that the 820 chip is leagues better than the 810 as far as power consumption.
Even with a huge battery the 6p only gets average battery life.
The new Nexus will come with one of the new 820 series chips. Either the 821 or 823 which of course make it a better phone.
It will probably be 300.00 more though than the discounted 6p and may not be worth it to you.

Where is the 6p discounted 150 at. I need to take advantage of that price as soon as I get a day off.
